I paid $4k under MSRP for my TRD Sport 4x4 premium tech/jbl etc. Not the deal of the century, but the best I could get around Central Texas. I'm happy with it. Plus I got a free yeti cooler, hammock, and other camping swag thrown in. Now's the time to make a deal when they're trying to push the '17s off the lot.

Thanks but I'm going to look in my area for now (Seattle). I'm tempted to get a Tacoma now but not sure if I should wait for the 2018, mainly because I want the OEM leather and possibly Cement colored Sport.

Would you mind sharing which dealer you worked with? I'm looking in Central Texas as well and I'd be happy with that kind of a deal. Thanks!

I haven’t seen anybody mention that they leased.
    I leased the TRD Sport
    $355 month with trade in.
If I still love it in 3 years I can buy it
    If not ....move on.

    Not to be mean but:
    1. Can’t mod a leased vehicle.
    2. In 36 mos you end up at (dealer) FMV plus 36 mos of payments which always exceeds original MSRP.

FYI: Never lease a vehicle that has the best resale value and plan to keep it.

My guess based on current resale values: you will pay $12780 over 36months and the truck will lose around $8000 in value. So you will end up paying an additional $5k over what you negotiated for the lease.

I went between a few. Got them to beat each others deals. Finally went with Toyota of Cedar Park. They were definitely the best experience I've had amongst the various Toyota dealerships around town.

well if this is any indication here are my stats for our Tacoma.

    bought in Oct-2015

price was 37k down from 42k MSRP

trade in dropped it down to 30k I think, don't remember exact details.

    did mods :

    grille $600
    level kit : $500
    rims : $600
    bed cover : $500
    drone mobile : $400
    misc decals/floor mats : ~$400

trade in value : 33k with mods (found a dealer that was willing to give credit for the mods) another dealer offered 3k less due to mods.

    19k miles at trade in

so on the back of napkin notes :

I paid about $3500 a year to own this truck for 2 years, if you exclude the trade in amount and mods broke even in theory.

    37k - 30k = 7k / 2yrs = 3500 yr

which comes out to ~291 a month.

unless I have a flaw in my theory, which I know someone will point out :)

Alright, what do you all think of this offer for a 2017 SR5 DCLB 4x4 (7570).

    MSRP - $35,593
    Truck: $33,720
    DPH: $995
    Tow Pkg: $650
    All-Weather floor liners/Door Sill: $228

    Invoice - $32,951

    Truck: $31,238
    DPH: $995
    Tow Pkg: $579
    All-Weather floor liners/Door Sill: $139

    Offer - $31,834 plus TTL (around $400)

$1,117 under invoice and $3,759 off MSRP (by my math)

This dealer does not have the vehicle and would be bringing it in from another local dealer.

    Thoughts?

Sounds like a good deal. I have the same truck except SB (7540). Percentage wise, a little bit better deal than I got.

Was that the dealer’s first offer? That’s a good deal at 10.5% off MSRP. Counter and say you’ll buy it right now for 30,500 (~15% off MSRP). They’ll probably think you’re crazy but I bet you could at least knock a few hundred off.

This sounds identical to the Costco program deal I got here in Colorado. I found in Colorado it is impossible to get more than 10% off a Taco. So when the Costco Program beat all the local dealers advertised pricing by $1500 I was not willing to fart around and bought the truck.

No, I have been working with this dealer for over a month on multiple Tacomas. He is always the lowest. In Oregon we still have over 450 2017 Tacomas. However, there are only 15 or so 4x4 7570's left. He has been around 32k for other 7570's equipped the same (the seem to sell as soon as I look into them). Most dealers have wanted over 32.7k+ for the same optioned 7570. The dealer that has this vehicle on their lot wont go below 33.1k ha I literally have dealt with about 12 different dealers and the best before this was about 9.5% off MSRP. So this offer has my attention.

I tried costco and it only gets me $2,500 off MSRP here. Tacomas are every where you look here (Oregon) and most are TRDs or short bed SR5s. I can't use a short bed so it throws those out. TRD's are too much for what I want to pay for a Tacoma. Long bed SR5s are not popular here so there are only so many to work with.

Gotcha. Look at the door sticker for the vehicle for the build date and ask to see how long it's been on the lot. Maybe you can talk them down if it's been on the lot for 30+ or 60+ days.

Hmm I just checked the vin and this is not the same one that I thought it was. Its one at a dealer in WA (per searching the VIN). Its a late build 2017 though which is why it has a higher base MSRP than the older 2017 models ($33,720 vs $33,465) and higher DPH ($995 vs $960). It even has the dark satin wheels I really want (the one I thought it was does not).

What worries me is how many miles it will have by the time this dealer gets it. I need to find out if they will be driving it down or putting it on a truck. I'd rather it not have a few hundred miles on it.

Finally pulled the trigger today, ended up with 2017 DCSB OR 4x4 AT, towing, all weather mats for 32,699+TTL.

    I leased!! (MSRP $37,538)

$380 Even a month for 39 months and 12k miles yr with only $500 down (covering the first month and fees) and the dealer paid off my wife's 2014 Prius v lease trade in full with 6 months left and seemingly negative equity at 1-3k per most dealer quotes so that was nice. It totally took a some back n forth plus fact that I have bought like 6 vehicles from this one dealership over the years. The original lease quote was very much higher. No way I could have done better, I know the Mgr and they were all in and then some.

I have Modded lightly (Exhaust, tint, acessories etc, noting crazy) almost all the vehicles I have leased in the past and has never been an issue. Granted I tend to sometimes trade in early and sometimes at different dealers and they don't seem to care. I mean I wouldn't Go balls to the wall with a LT suspension kit, custom bumpers, etc. Thing is you totally can go insane on modding a lease, just buy it out or like I said trade it in early or sell privately, not a big deal and like you said the huge resell value means you prob won't lose out too bad and might make a few bucks like some have. Carmax the lease after a couple years and upgrade ;)

I Considered buying my truck and wanted to go that route getting a loan but Payments would have been well over $200 more a month and thats at a 72 month loan, too much.. Wife wasn't having it. A lease works for me especially at the deal I got.

Very good deal! What was MSRP? Congrats! I pretty much have the same truck as you, I think my price was 2k under MSRP plus all the fees. Granted I bought 3 months ago now prior to any incentives :(
