The 2.7L 5 MT is a damn good truck. The price you were going to pay isn't bad.

At this point, if I want one in black, I'll have to pay a similar price plus shipping/trucking from California.

    I'm still on the fence.

Wife just wants me to make a damn decision, which I'm not in a hurry to do.

Nope, I've had a gmc Sonoma, 92 Toyota pickup 4x4/4cyl, and a Ford Explorer which doesn't count. All used vehicles, never bought one new.

I know the sr would have lasted me a lifetime, that's why I wanted and still kind of want it. I just don't want to pay full price for it! Maybe I'll find a deal, or maybe I'll wind up going with a v6. Or maybe I'll keep the Forester for commuting and buy a dedicated off road rig, something old and cheap and fun. Who knows at this point. I still really like driving the Forester, not so sure about selling it anymore.

I'm gonna keep hanging out here either way for the lols

If you keep the truck for 20 years, what difference does the price you are paying vs. what you want to pay? $1,000?

Divide that by 20 and is it really worth walking away from it for $50 a year?

    Just do it!

Shame the test drive clutch was malfunctioning.

Many others and myself went in with no parachute, no manual 4clys to test drive. First time driving one was after signing my papers and driving several hours home from the dealership.

    Workin' on it....
Aside from the OP feeling like he’s not getting a deal, the more important factor is the “meh” feeling he got on the test drive. I think you either love something or you don’t.

No doubt the truck isn't going to knock your socks off. Most people that opt for the 4x4 5 speed MT already know what they will be getting and a $1000 here or there isn't a problem for them.

The fact that they aren't making them any more is disappointing.

In the next few years I think the MT will be gone from Toyota's lineup.

A damn computer might as well drive the truck at that point.

Clutch is different on these...it should not be sticking to floor. Make em fix it and drive it again after driving a v6.

This is one of those cases where the dealer should keep the deposit because he was a PITA

The dealer should keep the deposit because the clutch was malfunctioning and I decided I didn't want the truck after the clunky test drive?

Good thing it doesn't work that way buddy

Yeah, OP probably hurt the salesman feelings...the salesman is going to need years of therapy to get over the rejection.

OP was not a PITA, he was a smart customer.

He also has a chance of getting what he wants, since he played it correctly.

Actually he was really cool about it. Said they'd have no problem selling it, happens all the time, and that he'd help me order a trd sport if I decide to.

I don't think they mind the funky manual trans orders (or any order for that matter) if you back out because it gets rare trucks on their lot that bring in other customers. That might be the only way to even get the manual transmissions on the lot. They had none in stock and only one other allocated for another customer's order. They said they had multiple calls about this truck as soon as it was listed on the website.

Go buy you a 2017 TRD Sport Off Road access cab with a V6. Should be able to get one close to 30,000. You’ll be happier in the long run.

The Sport is going to set you back at least $32,500 and the OR doesn't come in an access cab with a MT. The OR will run you around $35,000 for the Double Cab MT.

Well obviously I don't have to, but I might regret it if I don't.
