I'm sure they have "worked" this area before. The rat is dressed in cycling (or athletic) gear and was pretending to stretch while his accomplice tried to disable the alarm. To anyone nearby he looked like he was just getting ready to ride.

Are you able to make out that plate from the video? Some of us on this site may be able to help you out in finding out who this is. That dude definitely has some kind on device in his hand to disable alarms and is part of a larger story. If you send me a PM of the plate, I may be able to help out.....

Pretty sure western civilization peaked a couple decades back. We have cool trucks to drive, but brains are in short supply.

Don't get me wrong, I hate a thief more than anything. However your pics don't show anything but a skinny dude walking by your truck and a small SUV parked in the area.

Maybe this guy is just the hero who chased the thief away. A humble dude who was looking out for his fellow man, now he’s getting hauled into the cop shop for doing the right thing.

What is for sure, is the photos show no crime I can think of, other than the hair cut.

These are screen grabs from the dash cam video:

12:45 Car pulls very close to mine on passenger side, driver is looking directly at my truck as he turns off the roadway.
12:48 There is movement on the front of my vehicle (I see tops of heads only), from the passenger side.
12:49 Driver of said vehicle is seen near rear of my vehicle, looking around, fake stretching.
12:50 Alarm is tripped on my vehicle.
12:53 Suspect vehicle slowly backs out (but not into roadway) and is seen turning into another spot a few cars down, just as it exits to the right, out of frame.
2:20 I return to vehicle, start it up, and get "hood ajar" warning.
2:21 I open the hood and see that the hood sensor connector has been pulled from its mount, wires broken at the connector, and the right horn is unplugged and bent forward, as if someone pulled on it really hard.

I know it doesn't show the actual crime, but the evidence is more than likely that these guys were up to no good. If these images can help the GPD solidify another case, then I am happy with that.

And keep in mind, I have motion detection video rolling the entire time the vehicle is parked. No other vehicles or people were near my vehicle while I was away.

So why would they be breaking into your hood? What am I missing?

Who knows. Perhaps to disable the alarm? If they can grab the release cable with a hook through the grille and pull hard enough I'm sure they could unlatch it. Maybe thats what they were going for and they hooked the sensor wires on the first try and the horn wires on the second try before giving up. I'm glad the Tacoma has two horns.

Aha.....that makes sense. Disable the horns, then when they break into the cab, silence. I’m sure that’s it.

Crazy. The more I see of these dash cams the more I’m convinced I should get one.

Good luck OP and I hope they catch these guys.

I like the idea of the rear cam too. I have one for the front. Thanks @EatSleepTacos

Thinkware F770 is a great setup and was easy to install by tapping into the unused hot fuse port under the dash. I think they have a new model, the F800.
