I'm not bragging by any means but I got this truck new to me in 2011 with about 125,500km. It now has about 312,000km and I'm changing the front/rear diff, tranny and transfer case fluids for the first time since I've had it.

    Rear diff....
Just finished the rear diff. Plugs were a breeze to get off. Bit of sludge on the drain magnet. Oil was a bit dark.
Dropped the spare and refilled straight from the bottles.

Used 2838ml (946ml x3 or 3 us QT) Castro Hypoy C 80W-90. I emptied the bottles pretty thouroughly and only spilled a few drops and it filled right to the bottom of the fill hole.

On to the transfer case....will update...

So 187,000 miles with no gear box service, and you are proud of that? This is why I never buy a used vehicle without records and receipts.

Sounds like you are jumping to conclusions to some degree. Nothing indicates the previous owner did not change them. To the contrary, those plugs likely would not have come off so easily had the PO neglected it.

Also, converted to miles, 116k. Not a great interval, still.

Not sure if you guys read the first post from the beginning, but it started like this...."I'm not bragging..."

I'm just sharing the fact that I'm finally doing a much needed service.

I really like that some people on this forum are helpful and encouraging...then there are guys like you....

Seems pretty pointless to share that but if it floats your boat

Maybe you should read the rest of my 1000+ posts over almost 6 years before making that judgement. People are on here all the time bragging about ridiculous service intervals. They got away with it, so they think they are heroes. They are NOT. No, I'm not as helpful or encouraging to people who let their truck go 187,000 miles without gear oil service. No apologies.

Front diff and Transfer case fluid changes went smooth. Not much sludge on the drain plug.

Transmission will have to wait til I get a pump.
