That rig is very unattractive... nice rims though.

There was a government law saying all 2017 vehicles under 10,000 pounds GVW must have them.

I spent my whole career working for County and City Fleets. They alway's go low bid on vehicles and the backup camera is one of the things that do not make it onto the vehicle. Much better to spend money on a brake system upgrade or better strobe light package etc.

It will not take long for all the crown vics to be gone. I gave Zone 6, 7 new 2017 Ford Interceptors on a Monday and by that Wednesday (2 days later) they had totaled 4 of them! and 2 of the totals were by the same officer.

One police officer totaled TWO cars in two days?!?! Holy shit!

I've had my license almost 7 years and I've totaled ZERO vehicles!

I've seen a few of the latest generation Tahoes with backup cameras. Bucks County Sheriffs Department has one new Ford Transit in its paddy wagon fleet. I happened to be at the Wawa while a couple of deputies were on their coffee break and just politely asked how many of their vans had backup cameras. He told me the Transit is the only one with a backup camera.

One of Central Bucks Regional's plainclothes detectives drives an Impala that is at least 12 years old as of 2017 (it's a 2000-2005 model).

Also, I've posted a few other squad car-related threads on TW, saying that I think it's a tie between the 1994-1996 Chevrolet Caprice 9C1 and 1998-2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor as the greatest police cars of the last two decades or so...

I think the 2005-2010 and 2011-present Chargers are a close second, but only those with the Hemi V8. I've never been that big of a MOPAR guy, but I think the 5.7L HEMI is one of the greatest engines ever built. It's sturdy and reliable, it has plenty of horsepower, and it runs on regular.

As for the Charger itself, both generations just look mean. My only complaint about them is that they are unibody instead of body-on-frame, which makes them less durable and more expensive to repair in the even of a collision.

The officers were hardly ever punished for Damage incurred during a chase situation. I had two Ford Dealership Body Shops working full time just to keep up. Finally the Police Dept said they would not fix cosmetic damaged. Then the fleet started to look shabby. I retired (second retirement) after 3 years of that circus.

But I had great Mechanics working for me. I had one Tech that could do a complete engine swap from crate to car and have it running again in 3 hours. It was a shame to hand him his paycheck.

So, are you/were you a LEO, or are you/were you a department fleet supervisor of some sort?

Your department put enough miles on these cars to need a new engine?

I ended my career as a Fleet Manager, Long story behind me leaving but I sided with the Police and Fire Dept. over my Bosses wishes and it was best I leave when I did. (My LEO buddies went downtown about my Bosses sorry ass.) My Daughter is a State Investigator for Pardon & Paroles. I spent many nights awake until She texted me that She was finished with Warrants and Field work that was before She was promoted. You Guy's have all my respect.:oldglory:

    So, he's the anti-HomerTaco basically?

I've purchased items for my Taco from both you and @Ellis Precision , and I am beyond satisfied with both the grille and the shifter knob.

Next project for my truck is fog lights!

I had a new Pioneer stereo system installed in my 2010 RC in April 2013, and I'm 99% sure I've had my present steering wheel cover since before then. It's black and gray, and it's made out of simulated leather. I meant to take a picture of it today, but I forgot, and now it's too dark; Will post a photo tomorrow!

    Anyway...

My cover is still in one piece, but kind of worn out. While I like it well enough, it is very tight-fitting and hard to remove. I foresee myself having to destroy the thing to remove it if and when I decide to replace it.

Years of use have cause it shift slightly on the steering wheel so it isn't perfectly straight. I want the replacement cover to be easier to remove.

Does anyone recommend a particular brand/style of steering wheel cover?

Wheelskins is very popular here. Pricey, but it's quality. ($50)ish

Others have gotten some from aliexpress for cheap ($5-10)ish.

I did this, had it for about a year, but it started collecting dirt and oils from my hands.

'21 Nothing so far, I just bought the friggin thing!! '09 Silver SR5 Prerunner DCSB (sold) Dick Cepek rims, 33” Cooper AT 3’s, 24 in light bar, custom-made hitch step, sport headlights (on SR5 taco), Gator tonneau cover (looking for Best Top soft camper shell), real tree seat covers, weather tech floor liners, 6’ bed mat cut to 5’ (because the 6’ ones were the only ones available, alpine touch screen head unit, alpine 1100w amp powering 2 10” subs, upgraded door speakers (forgotten the brand), Magnaflow exhaust
I went to Walmart and bought the real tree camp one about a year ago now and it’s held up really good for only being like $10, it is getting discolored but that’s mostly because I always have grease oil and grim on my hands for some old pos car I’ve been working on.
