I got it pretty early...

 

If you drive 40 mph and feather throttle in 6th you can pull 30+ mpg.

 

My truck won't. Trust me. I've tried.

I've even tried on over inflated tires...

This truck will not break 19 and that's at cruise control going south (down the mountains) for hours at end.

 

That's what my truck got before the tune. Even after the tune it got that and I swear one day it got better. It was odd. It gets 20 when I beat on it. On the interstate if I am rolling at 80 with the cruise on I can get about 18. I usually have a kid or all three of them with me so I drive conservative most of the time. The speed limits around here range from 45-55 mostly everywhere with small hills and some big. I generally do 5 mph over the speed limit.

I am hoping once these duratracs wear out in a year or two to put lighter tires on it. I love my 16 inch scs ray10's but I screwed myself in reguard to tire choices. I will probably buy a set of 17's and sell these. I hope to buy a small camper soon. The tune should help with pulling it around.

 

September 2015 build here. Waiting for the tune to work on us early trucks! Any word on a possibility of updating the ecm or replacing it to get to a later software update?

 

I’m hoping we can get updated to B11/B12 by Mat or he figures out how to get around the bi-polar B10 code.
I don’t know what an ECM costs, but I’m quite sure I won’t want to pay for that on top of the $1000+ CAD I already shelled out for this tune.

 

I put a couple hundred miles on 04B12 this weekend, mostly highway. I'm happy with it. The throttle response and around town feel of shifting 1-4 is light years better. Pulling out of intersections and not experiencing the 1st gear bog is almost enough to justify the tune altogether. Torque is up all across the board, minute changes in throttle position equate to actual changes in speed. I don't really wind it out to redline or go full throttle too often as it is a truck, but it accelerates smoothly and really turns on over 3500rpm. 5th and 6th on the highway are improved, but I still have very minor hesitations under partial throttle, say dipping into the throttle at 65-70mph. It is much better than the stock tune but it is still there. What sucks is that this area is precisely where I drive on the highway on a normal basis. 6th gear, 23-2500rpm, 70-75mph. It would be really nice if Toyota had spent a bit more time optimizing the zone where most people spend a lot of steady state driving. Not sure if @OVTune can improve this any more or not.

Overall with stock sized Blizzack winters installed, and OVTune MT 1.03, I avg'd 18mpg over my couple hundred mile round trip doing 70-75, mostly flat, minor hills, and a rainy windy return leg. About what I normally get.

 

Putting this at the top of my wish list for Christmas,hopefully any bugs with the new tune will be smoothed out.

What octane gas are you running? When I was using 87 my truck was getting 16.2 and acted like a schizophrenic maniac. Since running 91 I get 21.1 mpg calculated driving "normal", not a grandpa and its not perfect but drives much better.

 

do you have a working tune? your test tune hasn't continued to perform?

Sigh.... yes I have the test tune, but nobody else on 04B10 has it. I wouldn't call it done either, as we didn't get the ignition update like you did.

 

Ignition timing tuning on our ecus scares me haha

There seems to be a lot of traffic over on the dev/auto trans threads, and I get why - but ppl need to remember that we're not sorted out yet.

If 04B10 1.03 isn't done, M/T tune isn't done.
