I’ve noticed a little pinging here and there since pulling the restrictor jet. Lean tip in upon abrupt throttle changes. Be careful with that, guys. Putting my jet back in this week. The performance gained isn’t really much considering the potential damage.

So am i (the lean conditions)...course boost reference may help, but then im seeing 10:1 at wot which is definately destroying hp.

I dont remember anyone else agreeing with me until now. Soon as i feel better, that jet is going back in. I seen no increase in boost with it removed, just more danger in my particular application.

It appears the restrictor jet mod is a mod that has to be done if you are boost referenced and tuned for best results.

I was gunna borrow a mic, mount it in the engine bay. Then have gopro inside the cabin facing wideband and boost gauge.

I was wondering when the downside would begin revealing itself. Not intended to be a negative Nancy. I just know I don’t know too much behind the design and engineering behind these things, but I have to give the benefit to those designing it put it there for a reason. Now, that’s not to say it doesn’t have benefits to being out, don’t get me wrong, I just wouldn’t have the guts to pull it due to damaging other things unbeknownst me. Glad no one has had any catastrophic issues though.

To be honest my AFRs have not changed since taking out that restrictive jet. Do you have a AFR gauge? If you have an aftermarket AFR sensor unobstructed with your cats it’s great for monitoring mods

Again using my obd2blutooth app, since pulling the jet out I have not seen any significant change in afr's either. But new phone/ updated app since I last used it, who knows/ I know that there is something wrong with the calculated boost as a reference point. But afr's seem pretty close to accurate for where they should be.

Isn't the stock sensor a narrow band? And isn't a wide band sensor recommended for accurate measurments on an aftermarket AFR gauge?

It's really a damn shame a software-based tuning tool like EFILive doesn't exist commercially for our Tacomas. I would love to be able to data trend while driving to identify and diagnose issues like this.
