Time to make my build page!
I've seen a few articles in other forums but nothing here, yet. I want to swap my 2007 buckets with a set of black leather, heated, 8 way Acura TL seats. The TL was a rollover, and I'll pull the seats then strip back a few feet from the incoming harness (why not). Same for the heat switches.

The bracket doesn't look drastically different but I'm guessing the chances that I can bolt it up are slim to none. I'll have to see. If not, then I can get an aftermarket bracket to work, I think.

Anyone have any ideas about this? How do I disable the seat airbag for good? I don't want that thing going off.

Another question. If you trade the passenger seat, how do you deal with the airbag / airbag light?

Thank you! I was starting to wonder if this project was going to be a nightmare. It might still be, but it looks mostly do-able.

Yeah you should be good. You have a 2007 so don’t have to deal with all the side seat airbag crap. So really any seat you can fit will work.

I don’t have a welder or welding skills so I went with the Planted brackets as they offer the most universal top platform with enough material to bolt just about anything to it. A lot of the other Tacoma specific brackets are built only for the dimensions of certain racing seat brands, and don’t allow much modification outside of that.

What is the comfort level like with non-taco seats? Part of the reason for doing this that I'm tall (6'9") and my butt hurts after riding on the Taco seats after a bit. I would like better side support, a little more cushion, and some height adjustment. I get all that from the TL seats and I'm getting them for next to nothing. The heated leather will be nice for Wyoming winters. I have access to a welder and plenty of friends who can weld, so I might try to make the Acura brackets work first. Would you agree that's my best case scenario? For brackets, I like the Planted brackets, but I have also looked at the Wedge brackets. Wedge has dual locking sliders so that if I can't use the Acura brackets then someone besides me and the starting basketball team can drive my truck.

My transplant seats have the seat airbags, but I think I can just cap the yellow harness. The sensors are not in the seats right?

It really just depends on the seat. If you sat it in and it’s comfy then that’s all you can go off of really. The only other test is riding in it on a long trip and then seeing how you feel during and after.

Yeah best bet is just welding up some feet that fit the Tacoma pattern to the TL seats. I don’t know how wide seat your planning on using is but as long as it fits width wise you should be fine.

I literally just drilled out the feet mount rivets on my specific seats and used those as mounting points to the Planted bracket, no need for aftermarket sliders setup.

Seat airbags just go off when the main airbag ECU tells them so you shouldn’t have an issue with just capping off the airbag leads and leaving them be. If it was easy to just take the bag out I’d do that but otherwise I’d leave it alone rather than tamper with it.
