Yeah they can totally replace the roof I've seen it done a few times. With a good body man you can't even tell.

Ok...once I caught a huge spec, like a 10 pounder on a walk in wade. I was so overwhelmed whilst taking selfies I lost my fishing rod- a $500 set up. If anyone ever finds it it marks the spot I caught a 32.5” trout on a paddle tail.

Generally cutting involved from what I've seen. I've also seen the insurance company pay for them to basically take a half of one car they got as parts and merge it into another car that was hit hard in the rear as a repair. So basically cut the two cars in half and make one. Insurance will do some crazy stuff.

All things equal, unless there was enough damage to cause adjacent glass to break, I'd rather straighten the roof panel than replace it. Either way, filler would be used. I'd rather fill damage that couldn't be straightened than fill seams where new roof installed.

"Clipping" cars isn't generally done unless it's a car that's almost impossible to replace. I helped clip (join 2 halves) a Porsche 911 a few years ago. It's a gruesome task!
