My FIL makes something similar, except the only ingredients are a gallon of vodka and fruit of choice (typically strawberries). He calls it the juice. Basically just homemade flavored vodka, but it's so good. A few martinis made from it will knock you on your ass.

Yes she does. She now has 3 nice cars and will only drive a $700-$900 POS that she will pick up for the winter

Depends on the models. The old Montero / Pajeros were quite stout I guess. The Montero is just a garbage SUV though from what I understand.

I look at these 2 examples & I see wood from free pallets rearranged slightly & an Ikea counter screwed on top of it. Free pallets available aplenty. Try building your own, you'll be out some time & some screws, maybe a little blood. If you like it, buy a section of butcher block counter & BAM you're Time the Toolman!
I had a spare MB wagon back seat, so I followed some online instructions to build a Pallet Couch, adapted to fit the Mercedes seat/backrest. Ended up with an incredibly comfortable couch. (didn't need a couch, so gave it away free on Clist.) Give DIY a shot. The thing about 'rustic' is the allowance for errors.

I really wanted to buy a 1 bedroom/ 1bath condo with a 3 car tandem garage under it for just myself. Hated to pass on it, but in the end decided if anything ever goes financially wrong - better to have room to bring on a housemate. Ended up in a 2 family for $20k more, same taxes, no common charges. Hate all the time the yard steals from me, but love rattling around in an empty house & working on vehicles in the driveway. And if things go wrong, I've got this empty unit I can rent out & take a roomie too.
Be patient & you will find the right house, just be ready to pounce on it when you find it. Get all your ducks in a row & look past the shag carpets.

I've been clearing out the garage queens. Down to just 1. Hope to sell/barter it too. Last winter I decided I'd had it with my daily driver having to be shoveled out, to be ice scrapered, to be boiling hot inside, to be covered with dents fro the neighbors nut tree..... I want my daily driver in the garage, so I'm clearing out the garage queens. Anyone interested in a hand built SAAB?
