Greased the cast iron with some bacon grease and laid it in without preheating it. Cooked @ 425 for about 15 minutes. I like the crust a little softer so if you like it crispier you probably want to go longer.

I just used a cookie sheet, and it wasnt as crispy as I like it but still had good flavor. It did however rise good. I'll try the next batch in a cast iron pan but I got to get some bread flour first ;)

I thought our oven was on the fritz, but apparently when the beeper goes off it still has an additional 30minutes to preheat. We were wondering why it didnt cook stuff correct. :goingcrazy:

It takes over thirty minutes to preheat? That doesn’t sound right.

Yeah, that oven might be on the fritz after all. Never heard of an oven taking longer than 15 minutes, 20 max if high temps.

I think it is...I just dont know what to replace...Ive replaced the burner and thermostat, theres some sensors that may need replaced but I have to wait for some down time to get access to the back and we are usually cooking something so it makes it difficult.

I’ve found *usually* it’s better and cheaper to just replace the whole thing. Fixing parts on an oven is a rabbit hole unless you have a Viking or something similar.

well the oven works but its doesnt want to get to the desired temp you ask it to. If I put 350 it barely gets to 320. so have to up the temp setting. Ive been reading it may be the control panel since Ive changed all the thermostats and temp prob.

The cast iron works better than a cookie sheet. also works for a second pie after its pre heated. I just did a test run and made some breadsticks. Oh If I use the convection oven setting it seems to get to the proper tempo_O
