Mill down lift spacers?

So I have a set of used 3" lift spacers on the way to finish my lift. I am not actually sure though how much lift I need to level the truck. Goal here is not to jack the truck up, but to get it level after an AAL adds to the 1.5" rake I already have. (thank you Toyota )

Is there any reason that I couldn't machine down the spacer as needed? I would be doing this very professionally, no dremmel crap. As long as I am there I am also think I am going to cut them asymetrically to compensate for the Taco lean (again FU Toyota).

How much new spacers would cost?

If you machine to much, the spacer will loose strength, research and get the right spacer for the look you want.

Suspension components are not a place you want to skimp.

If the OP has the ability to machine the spacers, I'd make your own set custom to the desired height.

 

For $35 for a set of 3" Toyotatecs the time and materials cost is totally worth it. I already know that I will be leaving at the least somewhere between 2-2.5 inches. Since there are commercially available spacers as small as 2" I am safe. I would be doing the work myself with some assistence from a gunsmith.

 

I got procomp 2.25 spacers but are made of welded steel parts, not sure how thin you can get with aluminum, it's your truck, do as you wish.

 

It is something that I notice every time I drive the truck, and annoys me. As long as I am putting the effort in to level my truck why wouldn't I do it right?

 

Sounds like you know what you're doing. A little time on the lathe and a bit of close inspection and you should be alright. Hard to say for sure without seeing the before and after though.

I think you need more lean!!!

 

I would recommend you look into coils, or 5100's. Use the bare minimum spacers just to take away the so called lean, if you want.

I'm totally against using top spacers to achieve lift. Simply because they increase the amount of down travel beyond what the truck should safely operate.
But that's just MHO.
