Nice bike! For some reason that picture looks like it was taken in southern NM.

anyone with a 3rd gen taco have to use washers behind the header rail? i ordered a new rocky mounts fork mount and while my bike does fit in the bed now with the tailgate closed, the hinge of the latch sits right up against the part just above the rail. i'm thinking if i remove the rail and add a washer or two that it will move the rail out just enough to allow the hinge to swing.

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
or bolt your rocky mounts to a 2x4. that should bring the bike in closer to the cab.

Totally defeats the purpose of a locking mount. Plus I got this one because it's slimmer than their previous model. My bike won't fit in with the tailgate closed with the other one I have.

What if you just turn the back end of your bike so it sits crooked in the bed while hooked up to the hitch?

I'm not sure what problem you are trying to solve. The bike fits fine with this mount. The hinge of the mount sits too close to the front wall. It still works but kinda hangs up when you open and close it. The rail sits slightly deeper than the top cap thing on the front of the bed. I'm thinking if I remove the rail and put a layer of washers between the rail and the wall of the bed that it will pull it out just enough to prevent the hinge from hanging up.

I thought you were the one that posted the pic of the bike with the back tire up on the tailgate. Was that someone else?

Yep that was me. I bought a new Rocky Mount. The older ones stick out a few inches. The newer ones are vertical. The new one arrived today and the bike fits, although it's snug.

The first 2 pics here are the old mount. The second 2 are the new mount with one of them showing how close it sits to the piece above the rail.

I see. That makes sense now. How do you like those Rocky mounts? I just got a bike that uses a thru axle fork so I need to replace one of my my old delta hitches for QR.

Oh so clean, just got my first new bike in 8 years. Getting back into it. Bikes are worse than mods, just got this X-Caliber 7 29'er and now I'm looking at a new Trek Remedy 7 27.5... By the way, this bike pictured is now a filthy pig.

I like it. Definitely get the newer style mount since the lock covers one of the bolts where the thing bolts to the track. On the old one, it'd be trivial to just remove the mount from the track even while locked. A determined thief could still steal the bike, but it will keep honest people honest.

Nothing fancy...but picked this 2016 model up recently at a local bike shop for a sizeable discount. No serious trail riding, but will be used to ride on gravel/forest roads to access fishing spots.
