No, not kidding. I test drove a 2015 RAV4 a couple months before I bought this Tacoma.

If you weren't pleased with it you made the right choice, No point in trying to band-aid the issues if you don't enjoy driving it.

Not as reliable as you think. Common issues with the Tundra are 1) headunits shutting down 2) rear axle bearings 3) secondary air injection 4) timing cover oil leaks 5) rattle in upper windshield area on passenger side. 6) wiring harness issue to the fuel pump. Look them up if you don' believe me. Everything will have mechanical issues. You just happen to have a Tacoma that had more issue than the rest of them. Many on this forum have had no issues at all.

    Enjoy your new truck.

I had 3 tundras and loved all them!! Fantastic truck and would get another in a minute. My last one was a 15 crew 4x4 tss and great truck. Had a 2010 and 2013 also. HAd no issues at all with any of them. I used to tournament fish and don't anymore and it is just wife and I so I went to a 16 diesel Colorado and for me parking and getting around is so much better plus can fit it is garage with the wifes suv. Ill be going to an 18 Tacoma next month when it arrives and hope not too many issues but I sure miss being out of the Toyota. I had a few earlier tacomas before the tundra. You will love the tundra. if I needed to tow or needed the room id get another. I also commute and put over 30k miles on a year so nice to get the better mpg also of the Colorado and soon to be Tacoma but again id get a tundra if I needed it in a heartbeat. Nice truck OP and enjoy!!

Can’t be BS reasons if they’re his reasons and caused him to sell it.

Sucks that you had issues with your Taco. My 2016 TRD OR just hit 11k and so far I have zero issues. I'm pretty happy with the truck so far ;-)

I drove an 04 sti before my 2017 tacoma TRD sport. I had no ac in the sti and if everyone has ever owned one of those cars, you know how uncomfortable they can be for daily driving. Loud, and I mean LOUD cabin noise when driving (in the 04 at least). There was a lot to complain about but still never found myself complaining because of how fun the car was. Now that I sold it and got my Tacoma, I feel like I’m riding on a cloud. I love everything about the truck and haven’t experienced any problems. It’s like riding in a luxury car compared to the subie. But to each their own

It’s not BS, Just my experience. Not trying to slam any Tacoma inthusiests or owners. Like I said, I loved the Truck. Still own a Toyota, just not a Tacoma.

Missing the 5.7 is obvious! I took a 17 Tacoma out for a test ride and was surprised by how gutless it is,,,,, but maybe this is due to having a 5.7 for the last 4 years and it actually isn’t. Also was surprised by the lack of head room. Dont you also miss the Cab size?

    Congrats on your new ride!
I had a similar experience in 1999 when I bought my first new truck 1999 Dodge 2500 V10. It was good up to around 20-25000 Kms and after that it was in the dealership every month getting something fixed. After 80k’s I traded her in, it was the biggest POS I have ever owned. Turned me off Dodge completely,,, which was probably good thing, lol.
    Enjoy your new ride!

Doesn't sound like test driving would have shown many or even any of the problems Tony60 had and calling his experience bs is just trolling. All I can do is offer condolences and better luck next time. I like mine but it's no BM'r, it's the base model of a small truck and every fancier version just has more B&W thrown on the same frame. 15k more won't get me thicker tin, better window tracks or better plastic in the dash. If it rattled like his does though I would not have bought it no matter how cheap it was. Adding the other more serious issues could have turned me off the model altogether as well.

DSC_0046.jpg I don't miss the cab size. For my needs the Tundra was way too big. I owned my Tundra for ten years before trading it in. It's nice being able to drive on slick surfaces and not be annoyed by the traction control forcing you into 4wd in order to get out of slick flat surfaces. My Tacoma drives better, handles better, and the 4wd system rocks. My tundra had a lot of mechanical issues like needing a new radiator, water pump, and air injections pumps replaced. Last but not least, the moonroof went bad and needed to be replaced, a $3400.00 replacement. All door lock motors and actuators replaced, faulty sonars replaced. It was time to let it go. I hope that the Tacoma will be better then my Tundra, but only time will tell.

Considering it’s a 5.7L the mileage it gets is actually pretty darn good! I know this as I have one. Compared again the competition in real world numbers it’s actually a lot closer then what they all claim.

    - Cylinder deactivation? No thank you
    - V6 with Turbos? Again no thanks!
    - Cumin’s in a half ton? Another POS

With the driving that I do when I add it up going from a Tundra to a Tacoma would save me a whole $10 per day! Not worth it to me anyway and it would be a lot less when compared to other half tons.

Don’t take this the wrong way the Tacoma is a sweet looking truck, better for off-roading, parking downtown and in other tight places. I was considering getting one but I think I have been just driving full size trucks for too long and have gotten to use the size of them. Especially the cab size, it’s like an office to me.
