Everytime my I put my truck in drive when I reach about 35 mph it’ll like shudder and vibrate . If I drive it in just 4 it does great . Any ideas on what to try to fix that shudder/vibration ?

If the vibes go away when you are in 4wd then look into doing the ECGS bushing replacement.

I'm sure the descriptive thread title will bring in all sorts of folks who can help you diagnose the possible transmission shudder in overdrive.

How many miles or years and have you done a drain/refill on the transmission?

I think he is talking about drive vs 4 on the automatic transmission, but he seems to be new to the clear communication aspect of asking questions on internet forums.

To add, also might not be worth helping with his comment in post 3.

It's a tire balance issue. If you're getting vibes at a certain speed range but not every speed, this is 95% of the time what's wrong.

Issues in "Drive".... but not in "4"

I think this may fall into the other "5%" since the truck does fine at the same speed in "4"

A gentle tap to the brakes will turn the converter off when you are in 5th gear .
When you feel the shudder starting ..Keep your right foot steady on the gas and gently touch the brake pedal with your left foot .
You arent actually hitting the brakes , you are only manipulating the brake switch which turns the converter locking clutch off for a breif moment . Does the shudder go away when you try this ?

Could be transmission related, try the above and see if it stops it. I can say that I have had a 15' Tacoma, a 13'FJ and now another 15' Tacoma and all had some sort of vibe or shake in the steering wheel/drive train. I had Michelin LTX AT2 tires installed on my current truck and all shakes/vibes/shimmies stopped completely. I hope it's nothing big and you get it resolved.

OP, my truck did the same exact thing that yours is doing. I replaced one of the u-joints and that problem went away. But before I put a new u-joint in I would just put it in 4 instead of drive and it would never do thag shudder. Then when I needed it in a higher gear I would put it back into drive.
