Good luck. The city I live in is getting tired of hearing from me every day I'm sure. My road had parts washed out due to Harvey and they haven't fixed it. My road also doesnt have a sign for no 18 wheelers and since its a big U they always come through instead of turning around. So there are literal 6-8 inch deep potholes. I send in a repair request via email EVERY DAY and I email the entire city council once a week.

The last time they sent someone to "fix it" they poured some black top into the holes, pounded it down and drove off. So people driving down the road caused the blacktop to dent and basically it looks like waves of material. It's ridiculous. I'm paying about 5K a year in property taxes(2K more than when I moved in 2 years ago)as well as a separate fee for "drainage upkeep" yet they don't do any repairs or upkeep. The city also received over a million dollars from FEMA and it appears that nothing is being done with it.

I really am to the point where I'm considering planting shrubs in the potholes over night and then taking pictures and sending it to the news to see if that gets them moving.

I did a backflip on a 20" Huffy once when I wasn't even trying. Didn't even jump the chain off.

Also, didn't land the flip either...:pout:

My boyfriend has a really nice Haro that was like $1400 new(he paid $300). I compared it side by side to one of the cheaper bikes at Wal Mart or Academy and there was a noticeable difference in quality when it came to the welds and overall fit and finish of the bike. Also I've had friends who go off on trails and have had the cheaper bikes literally break apart when they took a dive off an unexpected drop.

I think for most people just riding trails you are fine with the cheaper bikes but if you get more hardcore the higher quality ones are a good option.

Bought this at Wally World several years ago. I've beat the piss out of it and it keeps going....and I'm 200+ lbs.

i sold a bike to a fellow who put $10k down as a deposit. Cash. Special tax forms have to be filled out when that happens.

Personally I don't care how pretty a bike is. Just not important to me. The biggest difference I've noticed between lower and higher end bikes is the weight. The higher end bikes are usually lighter

it wasn't anything special or exotic, necessarily. to me, at least. frame alone was $5k. Wheels were another $3k. $3k for the components, then all the little touches here and there...tires, saddle, cockpit, cages, pedals, etc.
