Tonto National Forest to Implement Restrictions on Target Types
    Release Date: Nov 16, 2017

PHOENIX, November 16, 2017—For Immediate Release. Attention target shooters! The Tonto National Forest will implement restrictions on target types effective November 20, 2017, in an effort to reduce the amount of refuse and trash being left on the Forest from target shooting.

Only the following types of approved targets will be allowed during target shooting on the Tonto National Forest:

    • Cardboard, and/or cardboard targets with reusable frames (excluding wooden pallets), which are removed from the site after shooting
    • Paper and/or paper targets with reusable frames (excluding wooden pallets), which are removed from the site after shooting
    • Reactive targets designed to move or bounce along the ground when hit, are made of non-metallic materials, and removed from the site after shooting
    • Self-healing targets, which are removed from the site after shooting
    • Metal targets specifically made for firearms. These targets are designed to swing, spin or knock down when struck and are removed from the site after shooting
    • Biodegradable clay targets (clay pigeons)
According to Neil Bosworth, Forest Supervisor, Tonto National Forest, there has been a growing increase in trash left behind on the Forest in areas popular with recreational target shooters.

“Over the last seven years, volunteer groups who organize and assist the Forest with clean-up events have collected 192 tons of trash at these shooting sites,” Bosworth said. “We’re grateful for volunteers’ efforts but all visitors should keep in mind that littering on Forest land is prohibited and is a punishable offense.

Doesn't bother me, because all I ever shoot in the forest is on that list already.

Skipped to the last page, but you talking about a gas grill?

Most pests won’t go in it. But, light it up before you use it to preheat, by the time you pop the top, they’ll be gone. And in the words of Major Payne: if they’re still in there, they ain’t happy.

So bring something safe to shoot at and clean up after yourself. Pick up or try to pick up all of your casings and shells and don't be an idiot.

Good luck on the job. I just got back from dropping my truck off at Tempe Toy dealer. When I got my truck back from them last week, the little rubber trim piece that lies between the body and wheel well cover was missing. Talking to Chris K, it sounds like their car washer may have pulled/blew it off. It's never been through a car wash since I've owned it- I wash all my stuff by hand. So, they are installing another one. On a related note, I was looking at the 2018 models. They have a nice looking 2018 charcoal grey DC 4x4 with some nice rims (Fuel?) & tires on it. I was poking around it and the tires are so close the the top control arm, my fingers were hitting both the arm and tire. There might be 5/8 in of space.

USAA. It’s the best interview and the easiest I’ve had since I’ve moved here.

Sammich maker gets old after a while. Potential new job could put me at the same working hours as him so he won’t have to starve while waiting on me to get home from most other jobs in my field. Poor boy needs his food. Spoiled rotten, that boy.

Their hours and benefits are very appealing compared to prior jobs and other interviews.

Anyone ever dealt with City citation regarding the front yard of your house. Tempe specifically?

Dealt with it how? Aren't the options pay a fine, and or mow or clean your yard?

I have no HOA, and the only thing that happens past that is if code enforcement sees you parking the wrong direction, if someone reports our pool being green as that's a hazard for misquitos, and then I think if your yard becomes like 3-6ft tall of weeds the city will step in for some reason if reported.

I have no HOA either. Basically my front yard is gravel, and I park the 4Runner next to the driveway on the gravel. City code says you can have a car on your front lawn as long as it takes up less than 35% of the total area. The 4Runner is less than 20% of that. I’ve received 1 written warning and 1 verbal warning from the good old city of Tempe.

Do I just wait until I actually get a fine and take them to court to prove how to calculate the area of a rectangle?
