When you're in S mode accelerate hard from a stop in S1 and then see how long it takes to shift when you hit S2. You have to tell it to shift by 4500rpm or you'll bounce off the Rev limit. The slow shifting and delays in initiating a shift was one complaint I'd like to see you tackle.

I'll be interested in someone who is an early 2018 owner doing a check w/ OBD for their calibration ID. I wonder if they will release an updated ECU calibration as part of the '18s and have perhaps held off on any incremental TSBs for the 16/17 while they burn through the overstock. Hell I never see any deals on Tacos, but saw a 0.5% finance offer this week for model year end close outs.

    In progress.... And getting better!
I’ve been watching the flow of this thread and want to make it happen. I know that it’s currently sold out but am willing to wait for the next available release . I can’t send you my ECU for the flash since it’s my daily driver. How can I make this happen? Also, thank you so much OVTune for correcting an issue that Toyota should never have let happen in the first place.

Been patiently waiting for this point where he had a daily driver for a test mule...
1.02C. a in 91 was a awesome upgrade until the learning muted a lot of its benefits. The new refinements with muted learning is what I've been waiting for...
Can't wait for this as I'm really excited to think he can get this all sorted out.
Keep up reading this thread for updates keeps giving me hope that this will happen soon...!!!

I’ve been watching too....as soon as the trans learning stops being a issue and degrading the performance, I will be all over this.

Morning gents, this is my first post on TW. Been on this thread since opening day of dear season here in SoCal. I decided to start looking for a way to help my truck make it over the hills on the freeway that I deal with around the Gorman area going to and from my hunting spots; that’s when I found this thread. It took a while to get my order in and now with the tentative shipping around the corner (soon after thanksgiving, according to OV) I wanted to make sure that I was prepared. Will the tune and the hardware be shipping at the same time? I still haven’t received the hardware. I’m order number 2138.

Matt will ship you the hardware interface. You will need to download the required software to load the tune. You will receive the actual tune file itself by email.

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you’re saying... I wanted clarification on the hardware and when it would be shipped in light of the tentative date (soon after Thanksgiving) that the tune will be sent out. It seams like the hardware should be shipped before the tune is sent out since I need it for the install.
Yeah, definitely better places to go but they are definitely out here. 5 of us bagged 6 deer 2 year’s ago within an hour drive from where I live. Last year sucked because that area burned. This year I only went out opening day and got skunked. There’s dear out here too.

Once you get the hardware, you have to read the stock file from your truck and send that to OV. Then you'll receive the tune file back and load that onto your truck. That's my understanding anyway, after being in this thread from the beginning. I'm part of the Thanksgiving batch as well.

This is the way things work:

    1. You order the kit.
    2. You are sent the kit.
    3. You us the kit to read your ECU info.
    4. You send that info off to OVTune via e-mail.
    5. OVtune then sends you the tune.
    6. You load the tune with the kit.

You drive away happy....apparently....I haven't received mine yet. :)

Anyone know how big the program is in terms of GB? I just ordered one of those cheap laptops from Black Friday but it only has 32gb SSD. lol! Probably only 10gb left after windows takes a good chunk of it.

you'll need less than 50mb for the software, drivers, tune files, etc.

Always amazes me how those tiny <2MB files (this single page of the thread is probably that big w/ images, if not bigger!) include so many instructions for our trucks!

I appreciate you guys chiming in to answer my question, but I’m still unclear. Thanks for your help. I’m just excited like everyone else about what seems like a great product. Here’s where I’m at.
    1. Done
    2. Lies the question
    3. Could be done if I had the hardware and is a prerequisite to the next step.
    4. See item 3.
    5. I believe number 5 won’t happen until the tune is available. According to OV, the tune won’t be available until soon after thanksgiving. Soon after thanksgiving can be as soon as 3 days from now. I still don’t have the hardware, so I was just curious about the approximate shipping timeframe of the hardware so that I could have it for when the tune is released.

This was more of a question directed to OV. I’m with you guys and don’t really know when the hardware is supposed to be shipped. I emailed him as well. I know he’s super busy and I don’t expect a quick response. It looks like I’ll just need to remain patient and I’m good with that

Does anyone have this tune with 35’s or larger and a lot of extra weight? I’m curious on that feedback.

While the power is nice (understated there maybe great), I didn’t the night and day difference everyone is raving about. Gas mileage didn’t move at all either.

It’s either me or my heavy ass truck (6k#) and big tires don’t help with the shifting or the gas mileage.

The tune is already released. Many people here are already tuned. There is no "time limit" or "got to get it by X or I miss it."

you receive the kit, you register it, you save your stock ECU data, you email us that data, we send you the tune file.

No, the tune is available now...the kits are not shipping until after thanksgiving. Tunes are created based on your ecu info, so while the tune is currently available, your tune (every single truck has a tune tied to it's specific ecu), will not be available until you send your ECU info to Ovtune, so he can have your tune created. And since the kits are not shipping until after thanksgiving, you won't be able to get him that info until then.

I’m sorry, it looks like I misunderstood. I thought those of us that were a part of the thanksgiving bunch were waiting on a revision of the tune that would be released soon after thanksgiving and we would be receiving the hardware before that time. I’ll just wait patiently
