JL AUDIO STEALTHBOX GROUPBUY FOR 3RD GEN DOUBLE CABS: For the past several months, I have been in contact with JL Audio regarding the development of the stealthbox for our third gen double cabs. Well, they offered me a group buy deal.

The details are as follows: We need to get at least 20 people who want in on this. 20% off retail price. Regular price is $699. 20% off makes the box $559.20. That’s a hell of a deal. The box comes with one 10TW3-D4 woofer and installs behind the rear seat on the passenger side.

If you are interested in being a part of this group buy, please comment below. Please comment only if your serious.

1st picture is the stealthbox for 3rd gen doublecabs, 2nd picture is the Subwoofer that comes installed in the box.

I hope to see some interest, this is a great deal!

By the way, I am NOT a vendor, just a guy who’s been waiting forever for decent sound in my third gen.

That I’m not sure of, I will ask and get back to you. Does the JL enclosure sit inside of the storage hole? Or does it replace the storage unit?

The previous model it sat in the little cubby where the jbl upgrade replaces. I haven’t purchased the stealthbox because I’ll have to replace the rear panel so it can fit in the cubby and that piece from Toyota runs about $300.

I don't know if they still make the same box but I think its a much better sound and value to get a *********.com 10" box for the driver's side rear seat (only like $200). Takes up less space so you still get the bigger double cubby open for storage AND it allows you to fit a normal JL 10" W3 instead of the shallow mount version that doesn't sound as good.

No one on here could confirm rather it would fit the 10" W3 but I had it in my second Gen, super tight fit but it works! Had to use a couple washers on the back rear seat bolts to give a few extra MMs of clearance, also had a speaker guard on the sub which would get pushed in by the back seats but no rubbing on the actual sub. Paired it with a 500w JL monoblock amp under my driver's seat. Only storage lost was the smaller cubby on the drivers side rear.

I would be all over this if only they offered to make a box that fit 2 jl in the passenger cubby.

I wanted this before I got my OEM+ system. It should be pretty sweet. JL makes good stuff.

Just want to comment on the speaker alone as I have one of these in a box built by Mr Marv. And this thing jams.

The stealthbox don’t usually come w an amp, the micro+ powersub boxes do.
I had One in my s10. Sounded nice for a little sub. It was the 8”. I still Have it but I want Something that is hidden in my taco

No, the deal comes with the box (purpose built for our 3rd gen trucks.), with the subwoofer pre-installed. You would need to purchase an amp of your choosing to power the sub. @EastTx yes, the factory head unit can run an amp, which would in turn power the sub.

If you aren’t familiar with vehicle/stereo wiring, I recommend having a pro install everything for you.

The fact is that this box will sound great, and greatly improve the sound quality for us audio enthusiasts. Not to mention it looks factory. Clean and professionally engineered by a major player in car audio.

@Tree Awesome! I will count you in. I’ve posted on some other forums too, so hopefully we can get up to 20 people fairly quickly. Feel free to PM me.

I wanna see what it looks like installed. The pic looks more like the mustang box than those for tacomas.

Also that no panel removal is required when it's mounted

This is the picture that JL Audio emailed me of the box for the 3rd gen. Fits in the cubby behind the rear passenger seat.

I’ll see if they can provide a picture of the installed product.
