I will check my stock when I get home, but I want to say its like 22g. I normally solder on larger wire to help with plugs and such.

@paranoid56 is correct! The wire is 22g for our Rock and Dome Lights.

    Hey bailey,
Are the red rock lights a red LED with clear lens, or a Clear LED with red lens?
    Guess I'll find out...

bringing this thread back from the dead. @Baja Designs (or anyone else) would it be possible to tap into the switch inside one of the dome lights to power a rock light as well on the same circuit?

I'm working out the lighting for my camper build and I thought it would be pretty slick if I could use the switch on a single dome light to have 2 lights - a rock and a dome, 1 on each side turn on together. I know I can just get 2 rock lights and wire that to a switch but if it's as simple as soldering an extra wire onto the switch in the dome I thought this could be a really cool/clean way to do it. I Just don't necessarily wanna buy a light to take it apart and find out. If possible a pic of the frontside of the board would be helpful too!

Clearly I wouldn't be harassing you about the warranty if I started soldering stuff on my light. :)

    Hi plurpimpin,

That's actually a really cool concept! Unfortunately, the way that the rock/dome light is built it would be very hard to modify. Each light has a machined aluminum housing and is sealed with epoxy after the circuit board is installed. Even if you did cut it open, you may run into issues with reliability. For example, condensation may be obtained because it's no longer sealed. This has never been done, so I wouldn't be able to provide instruction nor encourage it because of liability issues. Sorry to say we're hitting a wall with this. I would either recommend using an external switch mounted in the vehicle for a set of rock lights or using two dome lights.

Ah makes sense! Didn’t realize they were epoxy sealed. I saw the earlier pics in this thread and thought it might be as simple as taking a few screws off to open the case. Thanks for the quick reply!

Well I guess the other question is if a single dome is bright enough for a camper shell/GFC type application or would I be happier with 2 lights?
