Troll the dealer all you want, I did. However, the problem is corporate. At best, they'll replace it with another pump that will do the same shit. The memo is out to not repair, they refuse (so far) to redesign the pump (like they did for other vehicles with the same problem) and uhh....yeah. Fuck Toyota on this one.

I'm gonna ride it into the green then maybe consider a Raptor. I mean, if we're gonna throw build quality and corporate support out the window, what the fuck else does Toyota really have? At least with a Raptor I'll have power. I've found a few gas stations that seem to not make it chirp so bad. Higher quality gas does reduce it, but I'm not to keen on burning money for 93 when it should be fine at 87. Try to avoid shit quality gas if you can.

The good news is that more and more people are coming forward, just like with the FR-S/BRZ so with time, Toyota may fess up and fix it. One can only hope.

Had the loud cricket chirps issue. Dealership changed my fuel pump, hassle-free to my surprise. I’ve been chirp-free for 2 months now.

Wow. Congrats - no such luck on my end. I have the tune and run premium now so it isn't terrible unless it's hot out and the A/C is cranking at which point it sounds like the cricket armadeggon under there...

Until the pump gets redesigned, the chirp can always come back. I was chirp free for 13k miles. Until Toyota redesign the pump...fuck em.

With my previous fuel pump, the chirps go away whenever I use Shell gas (87 octane). It chirps again with any other brand. I had a regular maintenance schedule and wanted them to fix the pump... so I fueled up with Racetrack gas and yep... brought that chirp back pretty instantly.

Try about 2-3 fill-ups with Shell. See if that helps any.

Service guy said it’s a new part number (new pump?) but also said chirp could come back.

I'll go ahead and call 110% BS on "new part number"

I’ll try to take a pic of the paperwork tonight. Wouldn’t surprise me if I was bullshitted at the dealership.

just remember guys the octane rating shouldn't matter for your chirp its the quality of the gas you are getting cheap stations like valero and other crap have very high ethanol content this content dosnt change with octane rating ...only changes with gas station brand

Same part number, unfortunately. Likely scenario: The dealer told you it was a new part number to give you the warm fuzzies, essentially kicking the can down the road.

Toyota really burned me on this one.

Dang. Lame. If it’s the same pump, I’m definitely sticking to Shell gas.

My truck is like that but it’s Chevron for me. Any other brand and I get the chirping. Maybe it’s a regional thing?
