It’s whitetail season but axis are getting comfy now. Time to get some spotties and whitetail before season ends in January.

I primarily hunt for meat, last year I held out for a nice buck and got a nice one for me. Full rut buck vs a tasty doe...I'll take the doe every time!

Exactly! Late or early season bucks taste much better. And antlers are disgusting unless you're a dog

I didn't get a thing last year. Really missing that brown woodland ninja goodness!

There was a large bodied and heavy antlered 8-10+ point buck last year that I missed twice on the property. I hope he's still there this weekend! That would be the only deer I'd specifically hunt

if you have the time go for it...if you are limited, Id take the first nice mature doe or even a smaller buck, as they are still good eating but are usually just as big or bigger than a mature doe.

I was in a club and a guy shot a buck in bow season right under his stand that he never found... Some one shot it later with a rifle. Best we can figure the arrow hit a rib or shoulder and went straight down the back strap. The guy thought he made a good shot since it burried all the way up in the deer but it stayed out of the vitals. Arrows can do crazy things

I had a buddy shoot a pronghorn with a rifle out in South Dakota. When they were cleaning the skull they found a broadhead lodged in the eye socket. It was the craziest thing I'd ever seen.
