Wat he said. I actually don't know anyone that paid a shop to put their lift on. It's a huge cost savings to do it yourself, not to mention you'll understand what's what and that can help you big time on the trail, if you're gonna wheel. Or street even for that matter.

PS. Don't let beertime anywhere near your beer, wife, or pets

My vote is get all the weight and armor on, then suspension, then tires, but that's me. I don't think there is a wrong way to do it, so go for it. I got mine too heavy right now, but that will all change in the next month or two. Just been too busy lately.

The problem is that I already have tires and they are only narrowly avoiding rubbing. That's part of why I'm opting out of a full bumper up front til later, because I don't know how much wiggle room I have before I start rubbing. I want to get the winch on ASAP as possible, so I'm going the route that adds minimal weight up front then doing suspension next because if adding the slimline bumper + winch doesn't make me rub, I'm sure adding sliders and skids will. It's all a delicate balancing act around 'I dont want to cut up my fender liners'

I took an angle grinder to my fender liners when I put on the steel bumper. What type of suspension are you planning front and rear? You might be able to do a cheap spacer on the front (I know sacrilege) to buy you some time. Or I wonder if better bumpstops would help?

Planning either Fox 2.5s front and 2.0s rear, or just getting the 3rd gen specific OME setup. Haven't decided yet, basically gonna come down to what kind of budget I'm working with when the time comes since it's about a $700 delta, unless there's another crazy Fox group buy next year.

I'll probably go with Fox cause I don't want to settle. All I know for sure now is I'm definitely getting progressive.

Bump stops only "help" when you are at the end of down travel. The good one soften the bump when you bottom out.

You're actually on to something with the top plate spacers. I ran them for 14 months on my current truck until I knew what I was going to use for my final lift. So long as you don't go hucking giant whoops or jumping dunes, they really aren't as bad as some will tell you. You end up with same ride as stock. I put a spacer between the bump stop and the frame to prevent the shock from bottoming and chived on! 2 trips to Black Mountain on $75 ebay spacers.....no regrets.

Not a long term fix, but a good short term bail out if there's hard rubbing.

    Or....$500 for 5100s and coils...

51s are digressive. As near as I can tell billy doesn't make anything progressive for our trucks

Agreed on both counts. Wasn’t sure how low he was. Pretty sure bumpstops would raise me a little bit with all my truck’s weight. Lol.

Bump stops kept you from fully compressing into your suspension components that don't have springs or rubber surfaces. Which is UPtravel.
DOWNtravel would be where limit straps come into play.

With my 2/3 motor, as it's been put :), and 885 coils, don't think I've ever touched em up front. But the new ones need put on regardless

Still haven’t gotten rid of my trd pro rigid fog lights. If anyone is interested? I took care when removing the bezels, they’re intact. I unwired the factory fogs past where they joined together and snipped them past the connector. Would make for an easy install for anybody.

Ordered a little keyed switch to put in the back of the habitat, so I could energize a relay to turn on all the lights around the vehicle from the back in the event of an animal or whatever screwing with my rig. Excited to install it. Still figuring out the wiring, but it will basically bypass all my other wires and turn everything on.

Replaced my factory low beams with LED replacements due to the headlights being pathetic in comparison, now it looks like the high beams need to be replaced. Seems like I might anger a few folks. :)

On a side note, anybody going to SMOR?

    https://www.smorally.com/

Met a dude at expo east that had a Habitat next to mine. It looks like a lot of fun for a long weekend event and not too far from all of us.

Btw, I think the 6100 series of Billies are progressive shocks. Not 100% on that

At least the 6112s are digressive according to the Bilstein site. Those are also almost as expensive as OME stuff new
