This may be a bit out of the box but do you have a TRD with the plug in the bed? If so, a soft topper an a heated blanket may do the trick.

Are you saying to cover the floor with it? That's a really good idea.

Check the wattage of the heater and don't go over what is labeled on the plug-in in the bed and you should be fine.

What kind of pooches do you have? If they're too big for the cab then they probably won't need to much stay warm

    Cute! Here's mine 20171021_160451.jpg
She only gets cold if she gets wet and can't dry out.

She also rides in the cab:), but for reasons other than cold..

If you're driving you could run the heater the whole time. Are they gonna sleep in the back of the truck?

She's cute. Yeah they will probably sleep back there. We usually just go straight through with some short nap stops. This will be the first time with the dogs though.

I second the soft topper with the heated blanket idea. Heat the surface, not the air. If your dogs are crate trained you can get a separate heating pad for each crate. They are about $50 each. Softopper around $700. You can get a mesh window to transport the dogs in the temperate months. You would then have a flexible and modular system to transport the pups year round.

    Here's Hazel. My Pity-Pointer. She's a sweat-heart.

Yeah that's looking like the best option.

Sounds like a softopper would fit your needs nicely. It can be taken off and put on with 1 person and you can set it down (it retracts forward) if you need to use the bed for stuff in the future. A new one will set you back about 700 but there are used ones on here from time to time in the 400-500 range. If youre going to look for a good colormatched used fiberglass top, they are almost always going to cost more than one of these soft tops cost new (unless you stumble across the right deal). They are surprisingly watertight, especially whenever you use the seam sealer they provide with it. Might be something to consider

    Heres mine!

I can almost guarantee a space heater wont run off of the bed outlet. Its rated for 400watts while sitting parked idling and only 100watts while moving

Find a cap on a truck for sale or a trade in offer to purchase it. The local used lot got a Tacoma on a trade in i purchased the cap + weather tech floor mats for $300..Only thing was my truck is white the cap was silver. I plasti dipped it black and only use it during the winter months or camping trips in the summer...takes 2 people to lift it on and 4 allen key bolts to secure.. Easier to install than the tonneau cover !IMG-0586.jpg
