iPod adaptor install ideas

Hello this is my first post here I just got my truck 2 weeks ago it's an 07 so the first thing I want to do is install the iPod adaptor to the stock radio. I already have the adaptor and am ready to install it just wondering if anyone had pictures of how they ran the wire from behind the dash. Just looking for ideas. Thank you all for your time.

I'm looking to do this soon too. I've been thinking of a good place to hide the ipod and the best spot I could think of so far is under the cupholder in front of the shifter.

 

i have mine in the glove box. never see it or the wires. and its easy to run them back there when the head unit and glove box are out. there both very easy to remove. but sorry i have no pics. and welcome to tw!

edit: i control the music through the deck (double din dvd) not the ipod so in the glove box is fine. if i had to access the ipod every time to change a song this area is impractical

 

I don't have this adapter, but I ran the USB cable from the back of my Alpine to inside the arm rest compartment. iPod lays in the little mesh net.

i dont have any pics right now but i left the converter box directly behind the stereo head unit. then if you are facing the the stereo i ran the wires down to the little tray to the right of the steering wheel. i drilled a whole on the top side of that tray and ran the wires up through the whole and back up to the converter box behind the stereo head unit. i have a i pod mount that is directly above that tray so you can barley see the wire when its hooked up and when it isnt you can leave it in the tray and dont just have a dangling wire.

 

i thought of this but most ipod adapter cables do not have a long enough cord. sometimes you can get away with a usb extension, but if you need audio and video inputs for your ipod interface like i did this method was impractical. just a little heads up

 

Here is how I did mine. Cut a small notch out of the corner of the 4x4 switch and use a vent clip. Clean/ no wire hanging everwhere. Its handy right at my fingers/ Dont have to take my eyes off the road. The vent clip is $10 at Best Buy.

hey RSH904 do u leave the ipod there or take it with u?

could be leading to a mess of glass if its always there if you know what im sayin

 

thats the same place i got my sirius radio setting but i drilled a hole way back in my air vent and the wires run out of the vent instead of the dash. wasnt about to drill a hole in my dash a week after i bought the truck.

I never leave the Ipod or Garmin in the truck. They always go with me. Im an insurance adjuster. I dont even leave it in the truck in my garage. I have handled way too many break ins in my day and Ipods/cell phones/GPS are not covered.

My hole is only in the corner of the 4x4 switch, not the dash. The switch is only $56.67 oem list if I ever want to replace it. I looked it up before notching it. I thought about bringing it out the vent but had concerns about a hole in the back of the vent dumping heat behind the radio. I almost did it that way though.

 

I had the ipod adapter or for the fac radio originally, but it wouldn't get loud enough. Ended up installing the aftermarket radio from my old truck, and using that ipod adapter... much better.
