if your not hauling all the time. its fine, but as for me i will be towing bikes to the track more often and loading up a a RTT with all my things i need for the track during the summer. everyone has their personal preference for what they do. i just like the added beefed up suspension. although it wont lesson the functionality... 4600 billsteins and upgrading to 5100 is one step up. i should have gone 6112/5160 initially with the HD dakars since i'm running a topper and gonna pack the back with necessary items for the track. once again, it depends on your purpose. but for a budget kit, its worth it.

I prefer beefier to a degree. I really hate to spend this kind of money, then not be able to put 800-1000 pounds in the bed (which I have already done with stock suspension) or not be able to pull a utility trailer with weight in it like I can now.

I like the route of the 5100's because of the cost overall, but I'm in the mindset I don't want to do this twice so I will wait longer to get the right parts instead of purchasing aal, then changing it out for 3 leaf pack later type scenario.

I have 5100’s and Dakar’s, I haul two Dirtbike’s in the back pretty regularly or I’ll use my 12’ enclosed trailer. The suspension loves it.

From what I’m told by headstrong, a single leaf aal will actually help with towing.

Since there is a lot of good info, I have a general question, not specific to the 5100's, but more to understand how lift kits work in general. I know the higher price kits (kings, icon) have the separate reservoir (which I like the look of) and I have a fundamental understanding of what those do.

My question is aren't those kind of kits more designed for faster speeds over bumps like through a desert or maintaining a speed over Forrest roads that can absorb the bumps faster vs slow crawling through mountain or other various trails or do those high end kits also have added benefits when doing the slow crawling off road trails? I then would assume that if you are running 5100's or 6112's type setups, that you couldn't mob through something or keep a continuous speed down forest roads or flatter trails with bumps and stuff, correct?

Remote reservoir shocks or coil overs stay cooler and work correctly longer.... They work better fast or slow. 6112s are better than 5100s because they are larger with more volume. I was told that if 5100s and Fox had a baby, it would be 6112s.

So what is the 5100 bilstein rear shock part # I need to buy? Looking on Amazon to ship to Hawaii but don’t want to order the wrong one. My friend mentioned I need to change the stocks cause of the lift... 3” front 2” rear.

Is there anyone running bilsteins with ome 888 coils without a winch or steel bumper? I’d like to go this route to get as close to 3 inches of lift that I can.

Maybe you guys can answer this.. i keep getting 5 different answer. I have 5100 top setting with stock springs.. and only get 2 in of lift. I wanted 3in.. or the most the 5100 can provide. Will i get more lift with aftermarket springs? If so which ones? 888? Stock front end.. no aftermarket bumper or winch. Thanks fellas

From what I read, you should get new springs. You are pre-loading the stockers with the shocks.

888’s will get you just under 3”
887’s with a 1/2” spacer on the driver side and 1/4” spacer on pass side gets you 3”
