That said, while I fully support the rights of normal citizens to film and photograph police, I am not one of those "Cop Block/Flex Your Rights" types! I honestly think that the people who go out of their way to make things difficult are dickheads.

If I were to ever get stopped by police while walking around again, for something stupid like taking pictures in public, I'd politely ask if I was being detained or if I was free to go. If the officer said I was free to go, I'd tell him or her to have a nice day and walk away. If they said I was being detained, I'd still be cooperative and respectful but ask if I was committing a crime or if I was suspected of a crime. If they insisted on seeing my ID, I'd be cooperative, but get their name and badge number and attempt to film the encounter.

I will NOT allow police to see the photos on my phone or my actual camera without a warrant. This happened when I got stopped and questioned for taking pictures in Doylestown back in March 2013, and I felt a bit violated...

As for getting pulled over while driving, my Taco has three HD dashcams (front-facing, rear-facing, and interior/driver's seat). I've been through a DUI checkpoint and gotten pulled over twice since getting the dashcams, it's blindingly obvious that my truck has dashcams, and police have not really cared. They have body cameras themselves and honestly they would properly prefer if motorists had dashcams...

Maybe a CD appreciation thread since CDs appear to be getting phased out...

Also, my Tacoma might be the only vehicle in the Mid-Atlantic with crank windows and a navigation system...

Ugh, not another manual window appreciation thread.

Yeah, I guess if you drove off a bridge into 50’ of water a manual window might be better for an escape. Haha. Sometimes all of us nostalgic old timers need to admit that the good old days weren’t way back when, they’re here right now.

    SHORT STORY/VERDICT:

I appreciate everything that LEOs do to keep us safe.

As a victim of a a drunk driver, I loathe drunk drivers.

As someone who always uses Uber or otherwise designates a driver when he's had more than a beer or two, I think DUI checkpoints are a pain in the ass and will do everything in my power to avoid them.

I have a subscription to this website that tells me where DUI checkpoints are just about everywhere in the country. When I'm hammered I will use this to help my Uber/Lyft driver and sober friends/coworkers avoid any local checkpoints.

My 92 Honda Civic Si had crank windows....swapped it for powered units. Definitely did not miss anything about it.

I may be the only one here with OP. I had a basic 02 Ranger with crank windows. Turning the crank to 2 o’clock was perfect for letting a little air in while parked, but not rain. 3:30 was ideal for smoking, etc. Opening the drivers window is no harder with manual than power windows and at 6’2” I had no issue reaching across the truck to open the other side. Simplicity. Less to break.

I’m not over 40 but I had a vice grip handle on a Honda Civic I had for years, man this brought back some memories.

    @Plain Jane Taco

My boss had me move her Element back to her house so I can park my Taco in her spot and the other manager spot can remain free for security reasons.

The PRNDL on the Element's gear selector has not lit up for over a year! It drives me nucking futs whenever I drive the Element at night!

    :annoyed:

There is a second PRNDL pattern in the gauge cluster that works, and I've been told that it would fail inspection if this didn't work or it didn't have it at all...

Not even 9:30pm and the bar where I work is packed! Bitterly cold but we've got a heated tent on the patio!
