Hi all. From Newfoundland here. I am picking up my new truck on Saturday and have a question. My Toyota brochure that I picked up at the dealership states that this truck comes with auto dimming mirror with outside temperature gauge and digital compass and backup camera. However, I have been reading some reports that some buyers have received their vehicle with the regular old style mirror with the flip button. Do any of you have this particular truck, and can confirm for me one way or the other. Thank you.

According to Toyata's website, that is part of the SR5 packakge

That seems a little odd.... It has the backup camera but not the temp guage??? Did you ask the salesman about that and why they advertise the temp guage and yet yours does not have it?

In the brochure it says to check the website for updated changes. The website does NOT list the outside temp gauge as an option. Digital compass yes, temp gauge no.

I would definitely check with the dealer. It is not mentioned anywhere with regards to the 2014, but I can't see them dropping that.

It was replaced with the weather app on the stereo. The backup cam also uses the stereo, no longer on the mirror. There are few threads with many other unhappy people.

I don't have a weather app on my stereo. Not that I'm aware of anyway. Does it require navigation GPS or does it run off satellite radio or something?

Weather app is on the radio unit but it seems to only come with the higher end radio.

I'm in the same boat as you. Absolutely appalled at the fact that they would sell me a brand new truck with no form of outside thermometer. How hard is it to include it in the freaking mirror? My solution is this bad boy right here... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005FIHL3G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1#

I'm planning to install it in front of the cup holders below the head unit. I'll let you know how it works out and take pics once it's in. :D

From what I understand, the weather app is garbage and is not an adequate substitute for an active temp gauge. It takes relatively local weather info from an app on your phone, not a direct reading, so you can't know for sure when the roads'll be icing in the mountains. Big problem in BC.

I'm more puzzled by the lack of heated mirrors

No kidding! My very first car had heated side mirrors.... A 99 Honda civic! I guess it's toyota's way of squeezing us to buck up for the TRD package. If I had the extra few bucks, I would've.

The TRD package doesn't have heated mirrors either , no Tacoma does

I think it's a love hate relationship with Tacomas. I would buy another one in a heartbeat but sometimes it's frustrating at the lack of simple features that should be a part of our trucks.
