making your own air tank sounds sketch, how much pressure are you wanting to hold?

Ive never heard of using sliders or bumpers as air tanks, not a bad idea. But yea you should be alright since it'll be more than overbuilt as long as the welds are done properly

I'd trust something I made more than a tank that could have been made early Monday or late Friday lol

And like you said put a pressure relief in and your fine. That should be without question

In theory, on paper, if done correctly the weld is stronger than the base metal

 

Very interesting.. Doesnt seem they hold much volume though unless its a plate bumper, not to mention if it was done with sliders you'd have to connect the main tube with the outside tube since they likely have no holes connecting the pieces before they welded them on. Im gonna look into it though its an interesting idea.

 

@Blackout14 Just be careful with pressure vessels, they get finicky about r stamp work. We don't carry one for instance because it's so fucking expensive. We build/repair pipes and manifolds all day that take 20k psi but good forbid you weld on a shop compressor @ 150 psi
