super windy here, Birds are barely even out. I think everything is hunkered down waiting for the wind to pass. I dont know about the rest of you but Ive never had good luck in heavy wind.

Well i had a yankee with me this mornin and we sat till 915 or so and we decided to head out; we got like 600 yards from our stand and i looked back and there is a deer going across the back if the field we were on. I took off runnin across the pasture thinking i might could cut it off and... I did.. This may be the 6 pt i saw last night but i wasnt about to run 1/2 a mile to look at a deer. It was in the woods and u wound uo gettin within 75 yards or so from it but i had to shoot threw a serious bunch of brush. Decent cull deer i guess now that I look at it. Also neck swollen, tarsels good and stinky

So I’m from out west and I know we count points differently but if it doesn’t have eye guards is it still a 6 point? Out here it would be called a forked horn weather it had eye guards or not so is it the same back there.

No thats a 4 point but i assumed last night the deer i saw had eye guards so i was calling him a 6 (he stayed pretty much broad side to me but i could tell they were about the same width) so i was saying that it could be the same deer i thought was a decent 6 last night

3 bucks a year and 2 does a day during doe days. But ive got him and the half a deer from the roadkill 2 weeks ago in the freezer so im horn huntin now. If i wasnt give out from running a half marathon to catch up with this deer i prolly wouldnt have shot him; he walked across the field i hunted this mornin tho and i could have got the cousin in law from michigan on him had we stayed 20 mins longer

Yeah drain is pulled and i dumped the ice box in it, ull pick up another bag after we leave waffle house and let it drain for 4 or 5 days (put a lil salt in there too) keeping fresh ice on it daily before i do any cut and grinding.

Nice we can get 2 buck tags but no doe hunting over here. 62° sounds pretty good to me compared to what we normally hunt in which is around 90° by 8:30 am every day. Deer season where I’m at starts the second Saturday in August and goes for 45 days it’s not uncommon to hit 110° throughout the season.

That will help with the rutty flavor, if its full rut though it will be a little gamey for most people. Id make some good summer sausage--cabelas has a good kit, Id just use the smaller 1.5" casings.

Well, the guy thinks he missed the monster he shlt at on the management hunt. We went yesterday and at in that spot and didn’t see a damn thing. The woods were surprisingly quiet with no shooting all day. Right around dark, a big hog walked out. Probably 200 lbs with probably 1.5-2” tusks sticking out. Almost pulled the trigger then realized I didn’t want to take 2 hours to drag him out plus another 2 hours to get home. Dad was 75 yards behind me and the hog walked by him and he said the same thing  so we left empty handed. I have to work tomorrow but I think Dad may go back. We’ll be back for the muzzleloader hunt dec 15-17
