This thread has so much good info! I’m leaning towards the OVTune setup. But they are sold out...

Curious to hear how the supercharged guy make out with OV tune. If it can adjust for bigger injectors that would be a plus. But I'm not sure how you'd run/log additional sensors or control a 7th injector though, since the hardware is the stock ECU.

 

Fuck a 7th injector.

It is a band aid to compensate for lack of sufficient fueling from the main injector set. If you want cooler fuel charge, use water/ meth injection/ killer chiller. I actually would only consider water/ meth injection over the rest of those options.

I get my OVTuner today, so we'll see how things pan out later when I run some datalogs. Though I already know what is mostly going on.

Also, I don't see it being available for the SC'd Tacoma yet. Are you Beta testing for them?

 

No not yet. There are too many variables when it comes to injectors. Flow rate, overall height, even the amount of holes at the injector tip. So I'd rather take this in steps out of time.

I am not running the 2.3 right now because I didn't like the mid RPM range knock it had. The hand-held tuner is what is not available for The Supercharged models yet. Regardless of that however it doesn't matter because even for the handheld units all you would have to do is let them know that you are supercharged and they'll change the tune that they send you to 1 that will work for supercharged models.

I picked up a self tuner which gives you the ability to work your own tune into the ECM.

As soon as I get this thing better tuned then I'll be able to run the 2.3 no problem.

 

So you got the Ovtuner installed? Pics? Did the handheld come from them? Can it connect to a laptop instead?

No I receive the tuner today, that is all I know about it. No pics for obvious reasons.

Was not meaning to make it sound argumentative. Sorry bro, military background keeps me swearing on the regular. 7th injector stuff is just how I feel about the situation, doesn't mean it is right, much like other topics of debate and their standpoint's. All is good here.

I gotta check tracking again but I think the tuner should had just arrived in the mail by now.

Anddd they have not dropped it off yet. It should be there in the next two hours.. I hope.

 

And the OVTuner has officially arrived!

So I went to go unpacked it yesterday, and I found a USB cord, an OBD 2 adapter, and a USB type thumb drive. I'm not going to lie I was a little disappointed at first, because I was at least expecting some proper instructions and a CD as well, but there was nothing.

It turns out OVTune informed me yesterday that he has to send in the program and the base map needed to start tuning the map all electronically via email. The final piece which you need to provide is a Windows based laptop. MAC is not supported unless you are using bootcamp.

I have not received either yet.

 

You know I have lots of questions... Does ovtune piggyback the ecm like Ucon?
