Having the ladder 'outside' has both pluses and minuses... The one thing I hate about it, moisture tends to collect in a pool on the rain fly and has a tendency to douse you with water when you exit the tent. And if wet and rainy outside, there's no way to enter/exit the tent without getting wet. I do prefer a full 360 degree view from the tent. I tend to get a bit claustrophobic without the view out the doorway.

Like Brian, my annex (and RTT) are an older 'Camping Lab' model with three walls, no floor. Generally used for gear storage, clothes changing and potty area. It does store under the travel cover without disengaging from the RTT.

perfect, we plan to just use it as a bathroom/storage and possible changing room.

What size tent do y'all think it would take to sleep 3 adults? Not 3 large adults but still 3 normal size folks. Would it take a 72" wide like the 23zero Byron?

Just picked up some sticky 4 ft USB LED's at Bestbuy for $14. Can change the color and the brightness up and down on them. Should work great in the tent!

I have a 56" wide model RTT and 3 (any 3) would be too many. 2 would be the max for comfort. 2 is a bit crowded in a 48" wide model.

    ^^^ This.

72" should be OK for 3 normal sized folks. It'd still be tight for 3 larger people.

Thanks. Still trying to decide if I'm just gonna go with a standard 2 person or go bigger. It's just me but most of the big wheeling and camping trips I go on are with two others and everyone it one tent makes things easier for setup and planning.

I wouldn't even consider the 48" wide ones an option unless you are by yourself 100% of the time... My significant other and myself are fairly small and we were cramped when we tried a 2 person tent.

56" wide models could be possible if you're both on the smaller side. Even then it's gonna be uncomfortably tight for anything more than 2 average sized adults. Ours is comfortable for the two of us but I couldn't imagine trying to squeeze another person in there.

72" wide is really the only option IMO to comfortably sleep 3 people but they come with a pretty large weight/size penalty.

In your situation, I'd do a 56" wide with an annex--two people in the tent, one in the annex with a cot.

[IMG]I need a little help anyone running RCI Bed rack and a BAMF rack? RCI 12" high and BAMF is 10" high so the BAMF gets the RTT down a little lower to cut drag. I like the looks of both and they both have good mounting options! So just need opinions on Quality and any issue's on either. Thanks RCI BAMF.jpg BAMF

I have the RCI and it's great. I keep a notebook in the glove box and do manual MPG notes at each fill up. I never saw any difference once I put the rack and Tepui on top. Still getting about 19 MPG. Sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more.

I don’t own either but i have several BAMF products and have seen their rack in person. Jerry and his crew do a great job and quality is spot on. I would highly recommend any BAMF products

That BAMF rack looks sweet. I wonder if they could make a 12" rack. It looks like 12 inches is about right to have some kind of view out the rear window and also not have the full tent above the roof in the wind.

I’m sure Jerry could, it would just be a custom rack but he can make it however you want.

Actually @Dave2016trdsport4x4 that bamf pic you posted looks like the new expo bed BARS with side plates that BAMF is making (pic looks like @t.hornstra truck). This is the bed rack (you can see the cross bar connecting the two vertical bars are welded and not bolted together)

    http://www.bayareametalfab.com/Low-profile-RTT-bed-rack-2016-plus-Tacoma-_p_72.html

I got to see those expo bed bars in person, if i decide to get rid of my shell, I’m going to either go with a full height bed rack that bolts to the bed bolts or the new expo bed bars. I like how you get the benefits of a bed rack but the expo bars can be disassembled and put away on a shelf in the garage

You will be- I love mine! I may have dropped a bit of MPG's (Read:1-2) with the partially exposed tent, and the added weight with my truck loaded down could have played in too.

Compare tent size to mattress size. My CVT Shasta standard (56") is equivalent to a queen bed(60"). Cozy for 2 people.

You could always get one with an annex and stick someone on the ground - 2 people up and 2 people down. Just adds a bit to your set up and teardown

The seam tape along the interior seams in my Tepui Autana is peeling off easily. I'll need multiple feet to redo it correctly, but I'm having a hard time finding long rolls of clear that are about 3/4"-1" wide, and designed for tents without ironing on. Do you feel the tape is truly needed? Will it actually keep water out? I really don't want to do the tube of seam sealer all over the inside, but I may have to. Thoughts?
