Yep. Like I said, the brochure has errors and you need to talk to a dealer who has the actual order guide.

There is 100% a sport upgrade manual. That is what Toyota calls it in the 2018 order guide. As stated, your choices are "sport upgrade" or "Pro."

Can anyone say with absolute certainty that my 2018 truck will not have sensor-based TPMS? Because I have ordered 4 Toyota TPMS sensors for my second set of wheels, and I would love to cancel that order.

And go look on the Toyota.ca build. They don’t call it sport upgrade.
You either get short box manual sport or pro manual. There is no upgrade option and they don’t call it upgrade on the build section even though it has most of the upgrade options.

I was hoping the 2018 would offer a lower spec manual as I hate the sport pack. But I refuse to buy an auto so I guess that’s my compromise. So I’ll grab a 2017 before they’re all gone.

There is no separate upgrade in the manuals. But the standard includes most upgrade stuff.

I agree with you that the brochure and the website are wrong. The image I posted is from the order guide that the dealer uses to communicate with the factory, and the text on my bill of sale says the same thing. As far as the Texas factory is concerned, my truck is called a "CZ5ANMBA 01H5 TACOMA 4X4 DOUBLE CAB V6 MANUAL SHORT BOX SPORT UPGRADE."

The website may be saying that the Sport Upgrade package is the "Standard" package because you can't get anything lower than that. If they said it was an upgrade package in the sense that it is optional (which it isn't), they would get a lot of phone calls from people like me who don't want it because they don't need it.

The "01H5" code is for cement grey metallic, which is the only colour anyone should order a Tacoma in.

I don't actually care if it shows up with leather, cloth is perfectly fine. I ain't fancy, and I think leather adds weight and thermal mass that the seat heater has to heat up. It will probably not be really great leather either.

Thanks for posting that image that shows the TPMS details. I am going to cancel the TPMS sensor order on Monday morning. I hope that table is correct LOL.

I think you’re right it’s just semantics. The standard for manual is the upgrade. But it isn’t a true upgrade as the upgrade includes tpms on the auto.

 

The build page says black and orange. So I’m sure it will be black with orange stitching like last year.

 

Just went on Toyota.ca and you can get the TRD Sport long bed for 2018. It comes in either a standard package or an upgrade package. Only with an automatic though like before.

Does anybody own or have any experience with the Toyota Genuine Dash Camera that is offered as an accessory on Toyota Canada's website? I know it's a bit pricey but I'm just in the research phase of different dash cams. Can it be installed on a 2016 Tacoma? Any pros or cons, other than price, to it?

 

I have the Blackvue Camera installed on my 2016.

How much is the Toyota Camera worth and how do the specs for it compare to other brands?

The only suggestion I can make is to make sure you have a high quality camera installed because if you need camera footage you want it to be high quality and expandable so you can "zoom in" if need be.

 

If it's like other "OEM" stuff, it'll be way over-priced for what you get...!!

I run a Blackvue Dr650S 2ch dash cam and it works great; however, they ALL have their "pro's and con's"..... The current Top pick is a Thinkware F800.... I think.....

Google some dash cam forums and get to know what guys are using and the issues with each.....!!

Do you want "park node"..? Do you want full HD 1080...?? Rear camera as well??.... All good things to consider first....

I do not know what Toyota is offering.... Is there a brand name that we can research..??? Do they offer rear camera..??

 

Looks like a rebranded Street guardian type but triple the price.

A better question is why would you buy the Toyota one? It doesn’t fit any better than an aftermarket one. It just sticks to the window like all the rest.

Anything oem like that is probably twice the price and half as good.

 

Yeah, I've been looking at other brands as well. Specifically the Thinkware F800 and some of the Blackvue models. There's certainly lots of options out there. My thinking with the Toyota cam is that it would be a better option for a clean install. It's listed on the website for $670 installed. It's 1080p, it auto records any incidents, and it has a park mode recorder if it senses a collision while parked. It keeps track of speed and location as well. It is not listed as including a rear view camera so I don't know if it is even capable of adding one.

Anyways, with all the options out there, I was hoping to get some feedback on this particular cam for comparison. Thanks for the input guys.

 

Well, that is expensive.... you can get the BlackVue 650S dual camera for around $400.00 CDN.... The rear camera is 750p, not 1080p...

They all install VERY easy....just stick the cable into the crevice between the headliner and A pillar and B pillar.... took me all of 1/2 hour to do a clean wire install... another 1/2 hour to do the "add a fuse" thing....!!

What about battery drain in "park mode"...???? I've got a Power Magic Pro that shuts off power to camera when the battery gets down to 12 V.... So I can start truck in the morning..! It also lets me select parking mode if I want to or not.... Does this one have that feature/choice..??

The newest BlackVue is the DR750, I think....

Has anyone jumped on the ebay TRD Pro Grill specials that are running right now? Decent looking and fitting replica ones are being sold for around $140-150 USD. I ordered one a week ago came out to $180 CA all in.
