    I should check mine.

My windshield is 80% and the night vision looks fine. The rear is 20% over stock. I wonder if it can even see out.

Sorry, but I wouldn't expect the cops to do anything, at least based on the way they work here.
A friend at work had kayak stolen from his dock. He reported it when it was stolen. A week later he found it on Craigslist. We located his house based on the zipcode and the pictures on Craigslist. Same guy had like 10 kayaks posted for sale.
He called the cops, and they told him to go over and get it back himself. WHAT?

I don’t expect anything from them in my case. However, if the license plate, suspect photo, and fingerprints help solve an actual robbery then I am happy.

I would be "happy" just having photos alone of them. At least you have an idea of who it was, and what they were up to, rather than your imagination running wild. That's why I have a dash cam and security cameras on the house exterior.
Anecdotally, around here the security cameras on houses seem to greatly reduce the car break-ins. I guess people just dont like being filmed doing illegal things. However the night vision at 50 ft sucks. Have the car thieves not noticed the dash cams to avoid, or do they just assume they will steal them too I wonder.

I use a street guardian sgzc12rc that has a separate lens from the recording device. The lens is wired into my dashboard looking at the driver the DVR is in my glove box, eventually I want a console fault. It also records while I'm parked and is buffered like thinkware or blackvue so it captures 10 seconds before the motion detection. so ultimately the goal is if someone broke in they get recorded and can't steal the DVR. The glovebox lock might hold back some opportunistic thieves but I want the console fault for a better guarantee that it won't get stolen.

It's ok at night. It's hard to read license plates at night. But if someone hit you from behind or was any where within 15 feet you could read their plate. The only time I could see not getting their plate is if they side swiped you at really high speed because sometimes it can just look blurry when everything is moving so fast. At high speeds it starts to look pixelated because the CPU has to process so much more motion.

Sadly it seems most of the time these days the criminals have more rights than the people they affect.

Very true, but that's usually not an issue in the South East. Many times in this part of the country have I seen a perp complain about being mistreated only to be told to STFU and that his civil rights were voided when he became a criminal.

The problem lies within the justice system. The consequences are too lenient and criminals have no problem with going to jail because the conditions within the prison system allow too many luxuries. Take away the luxuries and make prisons a legit suck and some people maybe would think twice before doing stupid shit.

Very true. Prison in the US is daddy day care. Nobody wants to go to prison in a third world country, wonder why.

Just talked to my buddy that was with us on Saturday and sure enough, the bastards tried to get into his Civic by punching the door lock. The video does show the suspect vehicle turning back into the lot just as it went out of frame, next to his car. He did not realize it until a couple of days later because he uses the fob to unlock the door. I am sure that someone was burglarized that day by these turd holes. I have shared the picture with the Glendora Neighborhood watch FB page.

Thanks for posting rrentrop. I hope they catch the SOBs that tried to break in. After reading this thread, I ended up buying a thinkware F800.

Sorry that happened to you man. Glad you got some footage of the lowlifes though.

This seems to be a rather common thing with vehicles parked at trailheads.

The thieves know that the people who are parked there are away hiking/riding and won’t be back for a while. Usually the parking areas are low-traffic areas which makes it all the easier for them to go undetected.

Hope those fuckers get caught and burn for their actions
