your little deal under your name says TRD OR. Don't you have a rear locker? Do you have a manual or auto? If auto, I've never felt the need to regear with 33s FWIW.

    It might be. I went 4.56 because I wasn't sure I would keep 35s. Now I wish I had gone 4.88.

Bottom line is, avoid a pre-built ECGS diff at all costs.

Well my front diff had a crush sleeve with shims, silicon all in the diff, and about 4x the rotational force of the pinion that was required. Basically the guy at The Diff shop here in Colorado Springs was like who the hell put this together and never let them touch your stuff again

Interesting. All I've heard is good things about them, I know a lot of guys that run their diffs. I'm not planning on buying a diff from them ever but good to know

I know of 5 diffs that were pre built from them and have failed inside of 2yrs. Sure they will flat out warranty them and send you a new one but I really don't want to have to worry about the diff failing in the middle of no where. J suspect the issue is volume. They are rushing the builds to keep up with the demand and are getting sloppy. @wrmathis 's comment above pretty much confirms that.

When you need a diff built PM @thefatkid. Hands down the best diff builder in the West.

I know of a few 1st gens that had issues with complete built 3rd's from ECGS. Some had ARB and some didn't. The diff that Brian AKA @thefatkid built for me has 0 isues so far. I know of a lot of other guys that had gears done by him with no issues.

Great, thanks for all the info guys. I was thinking 4.56 gears, but I'm still doing some research. With 33's I can't stay the speed limit on the highway going uphill unless I shift down into 3rd.

I need to update my bio stuff, but I'm not driving a TRD OR anymore, so I'll be adding an arb locker.

@thefatkid do you feel comfortable adding a locker? That's the only reason I was considering the pre-assembled diffs was to make the mechanic's job easier.

Lockers change nothing really. Someone needs to buy a Harrop locker, I want to try one of those.

I misread this post initially and was going to disagree strongly.
    Lockers are life changing!
I now understand that you meant they have very little impact on your gear installation.
