What size?

Cant decide on what size to get. I saw a tacoma with 265/75's today and it looked perfect and then right after a blacked out tacoma comes past me with 285/70's and those looked perfect as well. I think the 285/75's look the best I just dont want to worsen my already bad gas milage. What do you guys think?

I went with 265/75.

I think they look great with out being too big.

Even with the 265's I did notice a slight decrease in MPG and grunt off the line. It's not major but I'm sensitive to these kinds a things.


I like it because you notice it's different, but your focus does not go directly to the tires. You don't you don't look at it and say oh those are nice tires you look at it and say that's a nice truck!

Also I have stock rims and anything bigger rubbed on the uppers at full lock. so just more added expense on bigger sizes. rims/ spacers what ever.

Well if you wanna run 285s you'll have rubbing issues with stock wheels. I have a 3" lift with 265/75s because 285s rubbed my UCAs and I didn't wanna run wheels spacers. New wheels are coming soon then the 285/75/16s

That being said I voted 265/75/16

 

I get 18.5 (roughly) MPGs with 285/75/16. You just have to alter your driving habits and drive slow. Easy acceleration from a stop, not going over 65 on the freeway, etc.


You also need a lift to run 285/75/16 tires.

Thats exactly what I saw yesterday except he had stock unpainted rims. the bfg's look a lot better with black rims

 

I run 265/70/16 with 3 inches lift. It was same tires when I brought my truck. Gas mileages is almost the same before lifts. Average 18 - 20 MPG during warm weather, winter was about 17 to 18 MPG

 

I have 285s on mine with a 3" lift. I average about 18mpg highway (mostly freeway commute). Mine is a 6 speed manual. I get some minor rubbing when I back up with the wheel turned. I haven't trimmed anything.

I went with 275/65/17 (31") BFG but if I could do it over I would of went to 275/70/17 (32") There is more room than what I thought but you live and learn. Still looks good though. I say 285/70 =)

 

I got 265/75/16 Look good,runs good, 16mpg city 18 mpg hwy!!

 

i just put the 285/70/17 on mine and love them! i did trim a little but no much and it is hard to see. not sure on the gas mileage yet, i have not gone through a tank yet.

 

Another benefit of 265/75/16 is it fixes the speedo error almost perfectly. Mine read 57mph at 60 prior and now reads dead on. Those they say they've lost mpg, are you compensating for this in your MPG calculations?

 

you have to get 285s they look so good, as far as mileage I get 14...
