Getting it installed and booting isn’t very hard. Post installation is where things can get complicated. Choosing compatible hardware is the most important part. Some hardware just doesn’t work. Some hardware works, with some fiddling. Some hardware works perfect out of the box.

Meanwhile, how long are we waiting on ovtune?

 

I don't know. We are at OVTune's mercy until he sends the software we need to get the self tuner going.

 

Kinda shitty they sent the hardware but not the software.

 

I don't understand why they would do that. You are supposed to send everything all at once. Otherwise I am stuck with a bunch of random hardware without the proper software to mess with it.

 

Patience guys. More haste, less speed. I think OV Tuning is just one man (Mathew’s) company, maybe with a few employeers. I like the guy, he is done a lot of good work for Toyotas lately.

 

You guys also have to realize we're basically beta testers. You don't get a polished product this early in development.

Actually, I think he got all the beta testing out of the way. Especially for those who will be doing self tuning.

 

Not really, he still has to gather all of the various maps and then develop tunes for each one, which is true even for the basemaps he provides for the self tuners.

 

Would that be considered beta testing though? I would say that is more development of the maps as a whole vs. The actual software that he needs to perform the development to do so already being done.

Yeah I mean I could see how that would be seen as beta testing.

 

I got the files needed to get this thing going and off the ground from OVTune today.

I have to go to bestbuy and buy a new PC laptop. A cheapie will suffice as I will designate that one as purely a tuner laptop only.

 

That’s actually a great idea.

 

So, anyone with the UCON---> are there any tips/tricks or recommendations when installing the exhaust cam gears and the thermostat? Special tool? (i.e. the stud remover for the 3 bolts holding the thermostat in place)???
