So the cover mounts where factory rail mounts. The factory rail system drops down under cover mount an inch or so lower. So it remains, just dropped a bit. 39CCDDD6-90AB-452A-A944-70744B32015D.jpg

That is the way to do it. I had a difficult time due to having the long bed.

I have the Gator FX Cover. It’s been on for 2 months with no issues. The install took about an hour and a half with two of us. First side took a while but once we knew what we were doing the second side was easy.

I ordered the TruXedo Lo Pro as well on Wednesday from AutoAnything. They had 10% off, plus there’s a $40 rebate. Can’t wait to get it on my truck.

Looks like it'll be leaking at the rear end.... (the Tonneau is not fitting very tight to the bed rails there...!! Hope it works for you, but it looks like it needs some "tweaking"..??

    Update:

I installed my Truxedo Lo Pro this evening..
First I must say, order from TruckAlterations (http://www.truckalterations.com/html/tacomaworld.html) ...best price and AWESOME customer service! $365 shipped plus the $40 rebate through Truxedo. Makes this cover a steal at that price.

The cover seems very high quality and is very easy to install. I used the following video to install and I had ZERO problems.

I will update with pictures once I can get some daylight around here.

Todd says you can close the cover 1st then the tailgate. If you do this water will run down the inside of your tailgate. Best if you close the tailgate 1st then close the cover. That way the rubber flap/seal is setting on top of your tailgate.

The OEM factory cover leaks everywhere, especially at all the seams where it folds. After almost 2 years, all three panels are starting to sun fade now and they have actually warped, which makes it easier for water to get past the edges and also creates nice puddles of water in the center of each panel. The locking concept is pretty nice, but I'm not impressed with the quality at all.

I have a Solid Fold 2.0 on there now and it is far more water tight. So far no issues with the panels delaminating, like others have mentioned

I recently installed a TruXedo TruXport. So far I've been happy with it - the cost was about $240 from Amazon. I spent a long time deciding whether I wanted a tonneau cover or a camper shell. In addition to the cost of a camper shell I was also concerned about losing bed functionality, which was the whole reason I got a truck. This seems like it will be great for my needs and let me still use the full bed when I need to.

Hi guys I am looking at a bakflip G2 or undercover Flex and both are sold with or without a track system? Trying to get a cyber Monday deal and I've looked around but can't find out what the difference between the track system covers or non track system covers in the same models. Anyone done the same?

Here's a good explanation of track system:
    https://www.realtruck.com/pickup-truck-guides/what-is-a-utility-track-system/

Our Tacomas come with a track system (aka truck bed rails). I know for the Bakflip G2, the bed rails are relocated 2 inches lower with the brackets they provide. This is good bc we don't have to drill holes on our truck bed to install the tonneau rails. And we can still use the track system after the cover has been installed.

Got it. But still unclear why the covers are offered "with/ or without" track system if tacomas come equipped with one. I have a '17 OR.
