TTT - tent on a "landscapers trailer", that's interesting... Just need to cover it w/ astro turf & sink some pots of silk flowers in each corner. :)
j/k, but a new & intriguing concept to me. Would be cheaper than raising my garage roof.

I freak out when all I see is trees and nothing else on the horizon.

Custom trailer was originally built for race car and prerunner with expanded steel surface.
    IMG_9034.PNG.jpg

Then converted to also hold 4 motorcycle's + misc camping crap and when motorcycle's get offloaded pieces of wood drop in tire slots to make flat deck for tent

Trees are condominiums that haven't ripened yet.

Nice! Good to see someone getting full use out of a piece of equipment. (and it's pre cut for the flower pots - LOL)

We picked this up last week. Haven’t had an opportunity to do anything with it beyond some cleaning and winterizing so far. It’s a 2004.

Baja beach time. I can take the heat from the RTT and ground tent crowd. Our family of 5 used both.

Utah has some of the darkest skies in the country. Makes for great stargazing. Here is a view of that same area up on top of the Moki Dugway. No this is not from the air.

IMG_0056.PNG.jpg Snow Canyon, UT, with a new AAL, KO2’s and 5100’s raised + 1.5”. Towing worked out great, the new single leaf did well to prevent too much sag, and the truck has power to keep up with traffic - even on the steepest grades on the I-15 fully loaded. Trailer weight is about 3000 lbs dry, water and gear brought it up to about 3800 or so.

The Moki Dugway was a fun drive! Definitely something to experience. And yes, the stargazing from the Valley of the Gods was epic. Made it hard to go to sleep. Taken with my iPhone :)

My first experience desert camping was in the Canyon Lands backcountry somewhere near Tea Cup rock. Seemed like we were the only people in the world those nights. It was the only time I have experienced deafening silence. The sky was amazing.

Second best sky was from the Rio Grande on the Stoney Pass Trail in Colorado. You know a night sky is good when you can see satellites darting across the sky with the naked eye.

Allot of places here I'll never get the opportunity to see. When I was a kid we never went on vacations. Kids today don't know how good they have it.

Thanks! Apparently there’s a tradition of naming these things, like with boats, so with the blue/grey color I’m leaning towards “Corundum” (aka aluminum oxide, aka sapphire) due to the construction.

The best time to visit these places is always the present. It’s why a lot of us have Tacos, I suspect - so we can get out there.

If you want something bad enough, you’ll find a way.

Want truck parts? Want a nice dinner out? Want to buy the kids/wife a gift? You make it happen.

We liked living in New Orleans but for us to go anywhere for hiking or camping it was a days drive or expensive flight. We researched jobs that would take us closer to where we wanted to be. Husband took a $60,000 pay cut and we moved across the country. We couldn’t be happier. It was a huge blow to our finances. But we are making it happen. We believe in experiences, not things (ie useless shit that means nothing to us and sits on a shelf). Everything we buy has meaning or purpose. Most of what we buy is adventure. If you want it, you’ll find a way. Otherwise, you don’t really want it.

 That coming from the person who did lose it all.

It’s funny I’ve told people I wouldn’t care if my house burned down, because it’s all just stuff it’s replacable, but you can’t replace the time you spent not doing something

It’s been four months since the fire. I think we have stayed home (at our temp apartment) only two, maybe three, weekends. Sadly some of that time has been spent shopping -which I loathe anyway. But we’ve been very judicious about what we’re replacing. We had 4 skillets. Now there’s only two. 16 place setting of dishes and flatware. Only making room for six.
Our outdoor gear is where we took the biggest hit. Yes, we are buying things. But only when we need it. Moving in winter to a snowy area, you can be sure I’ll be replacing my skis and snowshoes soon as we get settled and they will be used!

In the meantime, we’re sitttng in a coffee shop in Portland OR. Because we’ve never been to Portland. Cheap train ticket, AirBnB, food from a farmers market. Adventure don’t have to be on the Orient Express budget to be enjoyable.
Once we have our gear again, adventure is just outside the door.
