Crazy thing about the cost is that Toyota also sells a base model 4Runner which is just as capable and a made in Japan vehicle for less than some of the Tacomas! And the front seats have been power for a few years.

If the wife and myself had the money for just one 40K rig we would have a Trail Edition 4Runner Premium, if we had throw away money then maybe the Tacoma TRD Pro. Just my opinion but the way Toyota is going, power seats in a Tacoma is going to place it right alongside the 4Runner in price.

No, not offended, just tired of listening to people bitching about buying something they chose themselves, it's not like Toyota forced them to buy these's trucks. Toyota and the other manufacturers provide a product and it's up to the consumer to choose what's best based on their needs, not on what Toyota needs to correct later because they chose to buy the wrong truck, it's not Toyota's responsibility to fix their unhappy decision.

If you don't like the way it drives or its features buy something else.

If you fall into that catagory then you need a better decision making process before you hand over money again to stuff you don't like and then get mad about it later. Take the time to shop around and buy the truck that best suits your needs, not buy stuff based on marketing, popularity and reputation. By the time you leave the lot you should know everything about the truck and feel great about both the truck and the deal. If you leave the lot otherwise then you screwed up, not the manufacturer.

Wanker or not, at least I'm smart enough to purchase what I like and not what I dislike.

Also, because you're relatively new here I'll let the name calling slide this time but FWIW you don't want to appear to be some shit weasel that resorts to name calling in anger because he can't provide a rational counter argument because he disagrees with a post.

Have a good day Bro-chacho and welcome to TW!

    Well said:thumbsup:
I was looking to trade in my 2005 Dakota for a new Tacoma. My Dakota has more headroom, more back seat legroom, a trans. dipstick, and power driver seat. So, I left the dealership and ordered a Bluetooth radio with backup camera for my Dakota. Oh yea, its also got a 4.7L V8.

Toyota just needs to add manual height adjusting capability to the seat and boom problem solved, no extra electrical stuff installed, end of story.

The FRS seat I put in has manual height adjustment which works pretty well. Not sure why at minimum Toyota doesn’t add that to the Tacoma.

I know people would then just bitch about it not being electric but it would quell a lot of the gripes people have.

Uhh, there's lots of expensive electronics under the seats and on the floor already. They don't do it because they have no problem selling these trucks as is.

There is a lot of tension related to this subject it seems. I just want to have power seats. It's not that I don't like the Taco. But you have to be aware that most vehicles, now a day, are built like airplane cockpits. Designed so that when you are in the seat and comfortable, you don't have much room to move, this I believe is for user safety, so that the occupant is not flung all about the truck. Things that are not mentioned for need of power seats here, are people like me older, in my case with short legs and a beer belly that showed up only after I quit drinking. Swinging out of the seat I hindered by steering wheel. Short legs and tall stomach. This for me is almost enough to warrant power seats. But on top of that, my hips and knees don't work like they use to. Therefore when I swing my legs out, and bring in there length, to miss the doors jam, my feet hit. I can't seem to manipulate enough to do this comfortably. So I end up manually putting seat back, to exit the cock pit. As for buying something and then complaining about it later, well this is what we Americans do. I am just wanting to put power seats in my truck, not have the seat belt alarm going off, or have warning lights go off because I have interfered with the air bag system. I can get the seats to fit, and power them up to work as they should, my main concern after doing this, is the computer going to go crazy and do things that will interfere with my normal ability to drive the truck. I don't know how to post pics. I have no way of knowing what wire went to what on the Ford Escape as I do not have the Ford they came out of. When I take the taco seats out I will know of their origin but not their relationship to Ford seats. I am just going to try to trace where the wires go to p, in relation ship to the area of the seat. Then make the connections in this way and hope I don't blow up the computer. I really find it hard to believe that no one here has not already bone this to their Taco as it seems they never had power seats.

I like my Truck but like most things there are details that could make the product better. The seats in the Tacoma could be better.

Airbags would be my main concern with transferring seats from another vehicle

I usually just slide the seat back as far as it will go when entering or exiting the vehicle. Provides ample legroom to swing myself into the cab. Then, get comfy, adjust the seat to driving position, and drive away. Really want that driver's side handle back, though.

Also, wiring components into your truck that were never meant to fit seems like a hit-or-miss decision. Might work, might not. Worst case, it might make you think it worked, but it actually didn't. And you might not know it didn't work until your airbag fails to deploy.

The additional load on your electrical system might affect the multiple onboard computers also. A few have found this out just by swapping out interior and exterior lights to LEDs.

What about the 4Runner? I believe they have electric seat options and more potential for compatibility.
Cost and locating a set may be a PITA.

I am going to power the seat directly from the battery, hoping to bypass any computer problems this way. Putting in a 30 amp in line fuse. I also believe, through research, that there is only one air bag effected by changing out seat, and that is, of course the airbag in the seat. I have seen high dollar racing seats, that are sold to customers that own tacomas. Searching through these seat sales paraphernalia, to find what they suggest to properly do this has only provided one piece of information. That being to change the seat tensioner with the one they provide, but no mention of what to do with the seat air bag warning light or what ever else might happen when doing this. I have been wanting some kind of helping information in this before attempting. I have now given up hope on attaining any direct information as to what to do or even what to expect. So I am jut going to rip the seat out and experiment with it until I get an end result I can live with. Just did not want my truck down for this long but, oh well! Thanks guys, for all your input and ideas, I was hoping to find some that had already made this transition. I am sure some one has done so, but I am having trouble finding them. Thanks again.

I guess you should hit the ignore button if your ears are ringing too much, don't forget the OP and everyone else who thinks they should have power seats available in 2017.

I just recently learned they have an actuator for the tail gate to power lock. Sold as after market. So you see many things are purchased and or wanted not because of what we don't like about the truck but because of things we do like, and want our trucks to be what want. I have decals on the side of my truck and power running boards. So I guess I should have bought a truck with these things instead of doing them. The argument about buying one thing and bitching because it does not have everything you want is invalid. My real main bitch about these trucks if truth be told is the fact that they only have the limited colors that they have. And will not let you opt for a color that they put on,for example, the forerunners.
