Seeing how white yours appear to be, I'm curious to know if that's white balance or a difference in color based on your ballasts. I have the Philips 4300k bulbs but hyluxtek ballasts and have felt, while very bright, are more yellow than I expected. I'd love to do a comparison to XD ballasts but not sure it would be worth 110 bucks to find out.

    Hey guys-
Just installed XenonDepot 4300K Philips kit. Great results thus far. I live in Alaska and it is DARK. Lights are night and day, no pun intended. I purchased the full kit. Install was about an hour as I chose to drill and mount ballast.

Questions for your guys that have been running this kit-
    1) I did not use the wire harness. Seemed unnecessary and I didn't want to source the power of the battery. I took it for an hour and a half drive and checked temperature of wires before, during and after. No increase or cause for concern. You guys see any issue with this?

    2) During start up and shut down the lights flicker do to power surge. The manual says to avoid shutting off and on multiple times as it will severely decrease the life of the bulbs. Any thoughts on this? I could use the headlight switch and turn them off (not use the auto on feature), but this would be annoying. What do you guys think?

First photos is of old (Left side) vs. new (right side). It is a noticeable difference. Cut off is spot on.

Second photo of old light. Third of new. Guys this is a quality kit. I live on a bumpy road and no bounce noticed. It is true plug and play kit and seems like one of the better options out there.

White balance is off. My older phone performs poor at night.
Perception with the eye is a tad more yellow.

@XenonDepot what’s the difference between the standard 4300k and the Phillips 4300k?

The guy told me that the Phillips bulbs are brighter and the color temp will change closer to a 5k as they break in when I called

Looking at the same lights on my highlander (3years old), they do appear a bit whiter.

Not sure on your aversion to drawing power directly from the battery as it is more efficient, but harness is not needed for sustained current draw as HIDs draw less power than stock. Meaning taking long drives is an ineffective test. The harness is due to the ballast exceeding the circuits rating at HID ignition for fractions of a second. The system should stabilize before the fuse will blow but technically not a good practice for 55w HIDs.

I also run the same Philips setup without the harness. However it is 35w ballast and not 55. So is that still exceeding the circuits rating at HID ignition?

1- The relay harness is completely optional for the Tacoma with the Xtreme HID kit installed. This because the 35w Xtreme ballast has a low draw start up which means the OEM harness is enough to power the ballast and hid bulb.

2- This is perfectly normal and because it doesn't happen for a long period of time then it wouldn't have any long-term effects on the bulbs.

There are 2 main differences between our 4300K bulbs and the rebased Philips 4300K:

1- The Philips one's color shift to 4700K after about 100 hours of usage.
2- They are also rated to be about 100-200 lumens brighter (3100 vs 3200 lumens)

All together I'm happy with the quality and light output of the XenonDepot 35w Philips kit I have installed in my truck, I went with the harness for piece of mine.

Bulb bounce is definitely there and noticeable, I tried both the supplied Xenon Depot grommets and also the OEM grommets with the exact same results, honestly at this point it seems like it a projector mounting issue rather than a kit suppliers bulb issue. I also doubt anyone who has any of the popular kits on here who say they don't have bounce/shake have likely just not noticed it or they haven't drove on the type of road/terrain that causes the bounce me and others on here are noticing.

I drive a sport so my suspension is jumpy. No bounce or shake whatsoever. They are super sturdy in there, so not sure what happened with your install.

Yes, all of the Xtreme HID kits come with 2 relay harness.

We're thinking it's a headlight issue as well at this point on certain models based on the various steps we've taken to fix the issue but none have worked.

OP sorry, not to jack the thread but has anyone tried combination of HID for Low and LED for Hi?
HID as low cost and higher output, and LED as very fast light...

I got that exact setup. XD 4300k Philips in Low and their LED's for hi beam. Hi beam slightly whiter, but don't really care.
Love the setup and have the same on my Highlander.

I have no more bounce than what I had with stock. It’s almost imperceivable. I have a TRD Pro, so my ride is a bit different than stock (no need for the sarcastic remarks, I know there’s a difference as I had a stock Tacoma). Some could be more sensitive to the issue though, so I think it’s subjective. I wish there was a viable solution for my Tundra. This kit was a game changer. I actually enjoy driving at night now.

Thanks! Id love to buy what everyone is buying but because of the shipping cost, I want to source them locally. (I live in Japan)
However some have problems with clearance behind the bulbs. Not sure which one to get...
