Most of my driving is highway so if anything the bigger tires over extended times at highway speeds should be better on the fuel...just might be a little bogged down getting rolling. But I have a manual transmission so it shouldn't be nearly as bad as the auto...

Are you on the auto or manual? Also are you an Apache guy at JBLM?

Pretty sure I parked next to you when we all went to the French Theatre a few weeks back. I'm a 60 driver. Wouldn't mind picking your brain on the 35's and take a look at those McNeill's in person.

Oh yea! I remember that. Didnt know who that was. Anytime man; if you see me out hit me up. As long as I'm not late to something Ill chat haha.

The fenders are Hannemann Fiberglass - https://www.hannemannfiberglass.com/toyota/toyota-tacoma/ Round top 4" Bulge. They were GREAT with next to no modifying, lines are really clean with pretty tight gaps (for fiberglass). Ive had people with both McNeil and Fiberworx (sp?) tell me if they knew about these they'd have gone this route. Both of those other companies pissed me off due to (lack of) customer service so I went with Hannemann just to spite them and his service blew me away. I highly recommend him to anyone looking into glass.

Totally agree on the HD never going gas. Or not unless theres a major reason to (skyrocketing diesel prices or emissions go stupid for HD trucks). Be interesting to see how the market goes in the next few years in the light and medium duty arena

Main reason I was thinking of the McNeill's is I think the 4 inch would be a bit much for me. Are you in those shit portables by the sim still?

Diesels in heavy trucks only became popular in the US in the 1960s. In WW2 all US equipment was gas fueled. I saw a 40,000 lb. gross weight dump truck from about 1960 with a 360 cu. in. in-line 6 and a 5 speed transmission. So it has been done and could be done again. I make no predictions.

It had the most unusual transmission I've seen.

Not quite 40k gross weight but you do see quite a few gas 5 yard dump trucks (~30k gross) still in use today. But a dump truck is a bit different than towing something of weight.

Kind of like a SM465...1st gear is probably a granny gear and not really useful for much more then getting moving under load. Max speed of like 5mph lol. But kind of why off road people like to use those old transmissions too

I had a 1981 F250 with the granny gear 4 speed transmission and the 300 cu. in. in-line 6. Started in 2nd gear unless it was on a hill (going up obviously) or loaded/towing a load. It had a much lower low range 1st gear than my Tacoma. Ah the old days.
My guess was 1st and Rev were opposite each other for low speed maneuvering however the layout of the transmission may have been a factor. The transmission in my F250 used a huge straight cut gear for 1st and reverse. Not synchronized on 1st gear, couldn't shift from 2nd to 1st while moving.

I just got a set of used OEM GX lights to play with. Nice fella on the facebook page sent them to me for the price of shipping.

Hoping that once I get them open it will be a simple retrofit, but with the built in shrouds I am kinda doubting it. My 4Runner's headlights put the GX to shame even with the HID kit. The shield on the halogen projectors of the GX just doesn't allow enough light through.

Hmm I know people do it all the time to 5th gen runners so it should be possible..

Since I will have a quad set up with TRS's quad wiring harness, do you know if that makes it for all 4 low beam and all 4 high beam? Or 2 low beam and 4 high beam?
