2nd Gen Breakover Angle

I found something weird on Toyota's official spec's for the Tacoma: http://www.toyota.com/tacoma/specs.html (click on dimentions tab)

If you compare between Double Cab SB and Access Cab, AC has 24 degrees of Ramp Breakover Angle as oppose to DC's 21 degrees. I find this to be very strange considering I thought DC and AC have the identical frame and underbody. Am I missing something?

 

Wouldn't Weight difference affect it?

 

The frame might be the same...but due to the cab structure, crossmembers might not be in the same location between the two.

That's just a guess....

 

Maybe.. since they take these angles at curb weight, DC might be a little heavier and sit a tad lower.

Could be as Janster suggested... but I looked underneath the center point between two wheels on my DC and I don't see any structures that sits lower than the frame at that point.

I'm just making sure I'm not missing something in detail.

Well the wheelbase are exactly the same; 127.4

So the only thing that would change the Ramp breakover angle is the height.

The curb weight of the DC is only 110 lbs more than the AC. I can't beleive that 110 lbs would cause the truck to set lower.

 

According to Toyota even the weight of the trailer hitch can alter things! They even put a "yellow" sticker in the door jamb to alert you to that fact. So I am not surprised that 110 lbs can stress the great factory springs!
