TRD Pro Grille for $140?

Thanks to this thread there goes another $208 bucks. Couldn't find any cheaper. Oh well at least the hideous stock sport cheese grater will be no longer.

 

Seems like a crap shoot if you get a good grille or not! Even with the same seller.

 

I went through Amazon same seller Motorfansclub.
159.99 plus 20 for expedited shipping.
Order yesterday Nov 25 says shipped today.
Expected delivery Dec 6 thru Dec 11.
We'll see.

I took a chance and ordered straight from China. Read the reviews on other sellers and decided to go straight from the source.

 

How did you do that?

 

Mine came from Motorfanclub on eBay and got lucky with a good grille. Now I see them come in with problems. Thinking he’s now getting them from a different source.

 

It says its shipping direct from China, There is a middle man no doubt. I wont see mine for a while. Shipping says Dec 18 - Jan 24

 

Just purchased one on eBay for $168 if I can remember I'll post a picture when it gets here.

 

I got mine from the same seller as you did, box was a little worse for wear but no issues with the grille, just very light scuff that is hardly noticeable, all the tabs were good and installed just fine. Looks good and for $140 I cant complain, took a little longer than I thought but for the price/free shipping it wasnt an issue.

That’s great! I also ordered on 11/12, but my grille still isn’t here. Last shipping update was in China on 11/18. I’m not sure what the hold up is at this point.

 

Got mine installed from motorfansclub... Great quality all around, except for tiny paint issues (not complete black coverage) along the very corner edge of the base of the TOYOTA letters on the small secondary insert. The grille is molded out of black plastic. the TOYOTA insert is white/ clearish plastic that is painted. Just needed a touch up from the wife's Halloween black nail polish and it was good to go. Only needed it, b/c I'm OCD... doubt anyone could tell unless they stared at the edges specifically from less than a foot away.

Two small issues with installation and haven't seen this mentioned before, but first is random and I won't have to deal with it until the grill is ever removed... One tab, once clicked in, would not come back out. It was like it was too wide coming from the mold. I tried to pry with a flathead while pushing, and pushing while pinched with needlenose, but couldn't get it back out, as it was wider than the opening it went through. Didn't want to break the tab, or the frame of the main stock outer grille frame. Why was I trying to remove it in the first place, you ask? After pressing in about half the tabs, I realized there was a clearance issue along the bottom center edge of the grille insert (where it is doubled up/ reinforced), and the outer stock grille framing. The screws/ mounts on the new grille prevented the two bottom center tabs from coming through enough and clicking completely into place. Wanted to take it out so I could dremel the problem area and put it back in, but just lifted the area enough to do it while that damn tab was still in place. I dremeled out the back edge of the circular screw mount posts and this allowed the grille insert to slide down all the way to the frame and click closed. May sound complicated but it took less than a minute of dremel time for both areas. Pics are attached. Anyone else run into this issue? I have a '17 Sport DCLB, but can't imagine the stock grille frame is any different than other 16+ model...

Was just a random clip of the many on the new grille insert... it happened to be near the middle of the right side, but I didn't notice anything different with any of the new clips before starting to press them in, and never would have realized it was different/ an issue until I ran into the clearance issue at the center/ bottom.

 

Has anyone seen this online in Canada?

 

Most on line sellers are located in China. Have not seen a Canada based seller of this grill.
