It's for install and removal. They are a bit bulky and heavy and holding it with one arm whilst trying to get the correct angle and attach it to the trans is challenging

Just bench that bitch into place!!! That's sweet I like that concept. I remember making a few tools etc when needed to get a job done. A couple designs I was able to sell to tool manuf., you may want to look that and contact a tool company like OTC to sell the design to.

I think it’s “open source” Tim got the design from somewhere related to Land Rover... I just welded it up. I need to get a regulator or a new welder but it did the job...I’m trying to win a new welder in an instructable contest but that’s unlikely

One of the tools I sold a design for had already been built by I believe OTC for Chrysler but I sold the design to another manuf. it could be called open source but there were no patents for it nor were any ever take out for it. There are lots of attachments for transmission jacks that are like that. It's worth a shot. If you could make it more "universal" and adjustable angle for multiple applications I am sure someone would pick it up.

One of the tools I made was out of schedule 40 pipe a1/2" drive 3"extension and a mounting plate for the pipe, welded together with some flux core wire talk abt sloppy welds.

Those welds look contaminated like there wasn't any or enough gas flowing or there was something on the metal coming out contaminating the welds. I think the welder has enough juice they look hot enough and got good penetration. I would try to diag and figure out that issue before I bought a new welder. As long as it hold you're all good! I never was really good at mig or stick, tig is my game I like the amount of control I have with tig compared to the others.

It’s a flux core welder ... I had a nice mug that I unintentionally “gave away” some years back. This little Lincoln is a get it done quick and dirty kind of thing.

That's why they look the way they do well then I take it back for a little flux core those look pretty damn good! If you're interested in a new welder look at Everlast and some of the other euro brands they make some damn good welders for a very reasonable price and you get more bang for your buck than the red and blue ones. I find the euro ones also easier to use and produce better welds without as much fidling around with them.

It’s a big box store 20 amp cord 50’ long. I have a big ol 50 amp one but it’s like 100’ long. My mig laid down good beads but then again I was welding all the time restoring an old mustang. I’ll get a better setup one day it’s just not a priority now. I like to say “ I own a welder but I’m NOT one”

I have a dedicated circuit in my shed with 20a outlet and 10ga wiring just for the welder/plasma cutter (before it killed itself) and a separate 20a circuit for air compressor.

i have noticed significant power drop using 50' 12ga the one time i did weld on exhaust tube out in the driveway so i didn't have to deal with dog monsters.
