Definitely agree. I really wish it lined up with the cab better, but now I don't even notice the gap anymore.

On a semi related note, I'm going to use red plasti dip on the windoors to make it into a candy cane!

    Nothing wrong with a hybrid.

I use it all the time.

To pre-tension my winch line when respooling.

I need to clean my line and do the same. The problem is there's nowhere convenient to tow my wifes car!

As unofficial wheeling safety officer, I strongly advise that everyone ALWAYS take care of your winch line.

It’s easy to do and the neighbors think I’m crazy when I winch our Prius 100 ft up the incline in front of our house.

Agreed! I've had my winch on my truck for maybe 5 trips, so it's time to clean it up and spray some penetrating oil on it per the manual. We live on a hill which would be perfect for it, but unfortunately it's kinda busy. I may say eff it and do it anyways this weekend and let people drive around us for a couple minutes.

Yes. Even if you haven’t used it, I still recommend maintaining it. Because you have exposed it to the elements and likely have dunked it in the giant puddles of AAOA or RC.

The plus side, when you respool under tension:
    1) you are “testing it” making sure it still works.
    2) you are moving the grease around the internals and continuing to break it in
    3) while you are winding it in, you can literally examine every inch of the line as it moves through your hands.

How do you know the cap is reinforced? I think mine might be but I am not sure... is there any visual aspect?

I'll try and remember to post a pic later, but there's two long bars you can see poking down through carpet. This cap is the 100RCC which is the contractor version which is rated to hold 450 lbs. I thought my previous cap was reinforced, but it wasn't

    Thanks!

I looked on Leer website and mine is not reinforced, only insulated. Thats why the roof is thicker, but not like in the picture you posted. Should be good to hold some weight tho lol

That's how my old cap was! It still held my RTT just fine for the limited time it was on there. I'm pretty certain that @Chux's cap is a non reinforced roof, and he has a lot of shit on his, with plenty of extra holes. I think he said it may be starting to crack, but I can't remember for sure.

My only "concern" is that my roof cross bars are bolted right through the cap and not on tracks, which does not distribute the weight as well as tracks, but still, the weight is distributed on 4 corners, and I also don't plan to load it like crazy lol I just like to know my limitations.

@Chux truck is really cool! I don't know why I wasn't following him before, but now I do :D

I have drilled many of holes in my cap (non reinforced) cracking is due to misalignment on bed rails on my behalf I believe.. can get some pics up later if you want.

@fatfurious2 @Kemosabe @Lots2Learn58 Found a meet up spot! 4.5 hours from each of us. If anyone doesn't like BBQ, there's a whole bunch of other places nearby.

    Jrama's Soul Food BBQ Pit

1237 Front St, Binghamton, NY 13905

EDIT: Or we could always go somewhere nicer to grab a beer as well. Doesn't really matter to me!
