You do realize the 2015 Tacoma was basically the same as the 2005 and the 2018 still carries most of the same parts under the body as the 2nd gen other than the parts they should've kept (4.0 and transmission)

Next gen Jeep is coming out pretty soon, puts it on just about the same cycle as the Tacoma... Also, yes the Wrangler is going to remain the same especially looks wise as a previous Wrangler, that's kinda the entire point.

Actually Fiat bought Chrysler in 2014. JK's were junk since 2007. Still plagued with all sorts of mechanical troubles. I bought a new "made in Italy" Renegade and it actually has much better fit and finish than any of the 6 or so JK's I have owned. Traded my last Rubicon for the Tacoma Sport and could not be happier.

I had a 2010 JKU, supercharged, wheeled often and hard (never passed up an opportunity to try something stupid!), and still drove it to work daily nearly everyday. Was the rare exception when I broke something good enough for it to be down. Then I injured my shoulder and sold it because I was having a tough time driving a manual trans... got a 2015 JKU auto, and it was one of the biggest POS I've ever owned. I'd swear it was built on jobby nooner or bring a bag of weed to work day, or something... really was no QA going on that day at all.

Ridiculous stuff like finding tape on the body that was just painted over (found while installing body armor, when it caught the bit and ripped off, taking paint with it); wadded up tape in the engine compartment behind the fender liner; sway bar hitting the frame (there is a welded in tube/cross bar that was not centered; this is actually common, but this was an extreme example); funky transmission issues where it would suddenly go into neutral (engine would rev, but no power to the wheels... had to come to a complete stop, turn the jeep off, then back on, for it to work normal again); AC failing, twice; finding a wallowed out track bar hole prior to any lift or mods having been done on it; and finding that a portion of the of the driver side rocker weren't painted or primed (already rusted up).

Yes I realize that... so... whats your point??

The Tacoma's resale value is mostly because it has a reputation for being bullet proof, the wrangler NEVER had that reputation... so why do YOU think the wrangler holds such strong resale value??

Exactly, its what a Jeep looks like. I would not ever expect them to radically change. Porsche re designed the 911 for the 996 body style and people lost their shit.

Eh, report back when you find out what actually went wrong with it (like it ran out of gas...)

Just to let you know, you gave yourself half of your problems. 215F isn't overheating for the late model JKs. without the a/c on, the fan won't come on until about 230F. That's normal for them. I had 2 of them, (a 2011 with the 3.8L, and a 2012 with the 3.6L. Both 2dr, rubicon, hard tops, 6speed manuals). I got rid of them because they rode like crap, got terrible gas mileage and weren't worth the inconvenience for the extra off-road ability I rarely used. neither ever came close to letting me down and both did a damn stellar job of holding their value. Either way, I still miss them, I'd own another.

Can't comment on off road ability, but quality for sure.

My fiance has a Jeep Patriot. Suits her for what she needs out of a daily vehicle, but the quality is lacking. We had a heavy rainstorm a few days ago and there was, no joke, an inch of water in the vehicle -_-
How are you liking the renegade?

Better than in the 2G echo chamber. That stuff is stale.

I agree with this. Most vehicles since around the 1980s have 200+F Thermostats as the extra heat gets better efficiency and lowers emissions by reducing the amount of unburned hydrocarbons.

Because a Wrangler is a Wrangler. Nothing else gives you what a Wrangler gives you? It is an iconic vehicle and it always will be. Reliability, I had 0 issues with my Wrangler other than the sound of a tent flapping down the highway. Friends had minor issues with theirs, mom/brother have had no issues with theirs.

However, THIS is MY personal EXPERIENCE. Odd...seems I'm having the same keyboard issue as YOU.

If it makes you feel any better I have no plans to own another Wrangler unless it is a second vehicle. No fun to drive every day or on long trips.

I'd love to know how I gave myself half the problems by turning it off twice lol.

And 215 is not overheating but that is running hotter than normal. I always keep a close eye on temps its a habit from having old turbocharged and modified Subarus and Supras, the Jeep has always been right around 190-200 which makes sense because the T-stat opens at 191. Nonetheless it wasn't the water temp that had me concerned as I know it can go up to 240-250 before worrying about damage... it was the tranny temp I was worried about, 215 is NOT a normal tranny temp, mine never broke 200 even towing my boat, so that's why I shut it off. And turning off your car shouldn't cause problems lol.

Official Diagnosis from Jeep: PCM failure (Power Control Module). Did some googling and seems like a pretty common issue even going back 10 years. Think they would've figured it out by now -_-
