Yukon makes 4.30 gears for the 2nd gen. They're the only one from what I have found. They're also the only one to make 5.29 gears for the 2nd gen front diff.

Well, and to elaborate a little more since I'm not at work now, yes, you played a crucial role in the final outcome of the look and I really appreciate it! All your experience and foresight helped it to come together. You were absolutely rights about the 265/70s being the perfect size to stuff the wells without any major mods required. Also right on them helping with the mpg's as I was able to pull 22 from home down to the beach with the bed fully loaded and some cargo in the rear seat as well. At speeds above 85 on the highway she's stable and smooth too withe E range Ridge Grapplers. I think the long bed helps a little with that. The added weight. All in all I'm very happy with the truck. I plan on doing those cosmetic mods I described above for now, and save up for some performance ones later. I'd like to definitely lift it like I said to help with mild trail play, maybe a CAI and exhaust change too. @HomerTaco has said he's working on a Satoshi for the 3rd gen so I'll replace my cheese grater with that and go plain mesh so I can keep the Horns on Fire emblem. If and when I run out of things to do, I saw some black vinyl racing stripes that wrapped from the tailgate to the front bumper on a Quicksand version in Hawaii on here that really looked hot, but then I'm an old classic look lover. I think that would really set the Sport off and make it even more unique. Something in a double wide flanked by double narrow. Old school, Chevelle style, right @68dave !

HAHAHAHAHA, yeah, I let the little feller live of course. The thought of it spinning around at 60 mph was too much to handle.

I wish the 4.30’s were available when I regeared... that would be spot on for my application.

I don't know what the stock gearing is on the v6, but in the 4 cylinder 4.56 and 33s matches stock gearing with stock tires. I think 4.72 matcjes up 35s on the 4 cylinder.

Yeah. I'm planning on 33s, 4.56 gears, and a TrueTrac at some point down the road. I just need to finish up some other truck projects first. 33s will come whenever I need new tires. Probably later next year.

That's the plan. I like that 255/80/17 is a true 33, but there's only 5 choices and all but 1 are Q speed rating which sucks.

Most of my knowledge of gearing revolves around the 4.0 V6 manual trans. For a 4 banger pre-runner the rules change quite a bit. You can make up for the lack of HP with higher gear ratio but go too high and you sacrifice top end.
4.56 seems to be the sweet spot.
I can tell you for my application 4.56 still seems a tad too high which is why I stated 4.30 would be preferable earlier.
Personally I’m more interested in achieving the correct RPM at highway speeds than I am about gaining touque off road. With the dual transfer case the off road part is covered quite nicely. My truck just seems 200-300 RPM too high as is.
    :notsure:

Yeah. On the 4 cylinder, a 4.40 is nearly identical to stock gearing on a 285/70/17, but a 4.40 gear doesn't exist. The 4.30 is a little under geared, and the 4.56 is a little over geared. Right now, I'm hunting between 4th and 5th if I'm stuck moving with traffic that's moving at the speed limit and isn't holding a constant speed.
