As a heads up as some quick feedback... The shaker bottle is one giant clump.:(had to loosen the top bit with a fork to get it to shake some out. Hoping as I use a bit more I'll be able to shake it free but it is full to the brim which is awesome. And tastes amazing still. The pouch feels about the same. Almost more clumped than with out the phosphate it seems. But I usually pinch and apply by hand so no big deal.

Just wanted to let you know. But I'm still a future repeat repeat repeat customer

I think he said he was going to check out brownulated sugar at some point, would make the rub less clumpy.

I'm going to remain very sensitive to any feedback I get surrounding this aspect. The single big clump is a result of the packaging process (the shaker and pouch is pretty full), but only happens as a result of our decision to stick with brown sugar. I was given samples that used brownulated sugar, but I did not find the taste to be the same and I felt it deviated from the way our rub has been used in the past in that it is a dense, hands on type rub as opposed to a light seasoning, which the brownulated felt like.

There is a tricalcium phosphate added to help with the clumping and I will say, in using the stuff, this definitely does not clump on its own as much as the original handmade stuff did. You can pack it together and get it to stick, but the handmade stuff would just sort of clump together if you shook it around a bit and could have, at times, little packets of pure brown sugar.

I feel like the brown sugar version is our rub, whereas the brownulated one was like a similar alternative. Coke vs Pepsi, if you will. I'm very receptive to any further feedback and would be very open to making adjustments down the road if that is what the people want!

Sounds like you need the TW taste testers to do a blind A-B test. Maybe any perceived difference will be a lot less obvious to the masses and worth the switch.

    Coke>Pepsi :D

I say stick with the flavor profile. I like it a lot and also feel the clump is from actually filling the packages with product and not air. I loosened as much as I could and will let it sit for a few days and see what happens.

As for the bottle and package, very nice! Right sized shaker lid holes. Dispersed what I thought was an appropriate amount. Tested it on some ham and Mac and cheese tonight.

And once I refill the shaker from the pouch that will cure any clumps. Not turned off by it and didn't want to come off as disappointed. Still a happy camper here.

what if you put a slice of bread in the big packages and also looking up a search says use marshmallow to help prevent clumping...while this adds a cost maybe worth it. Just put a small marshmallow at the bottom of a shaker? and a slice of bread in with the bagged stuff? just giving an idea.

I vote for clumps over flavor/ consistency difference. Hands on is never a bad idea when rubbing your meat!

I always take the lid off and wrap the shaker in cling wrap... when I rub my meat. Then I don't have to worry about cleanup or small holes.

Glad you got it! Bummed about the lid, though :(. The padded envelope keeps shipping costs down, but if it won't be a viable packaging, then I'll have to keep exploring options.

Send me your order number, please :).

You oughta recruit 8 go getters from TW (one for each upper and lower time zone) and ship them a good box of all your stuff. Have them canvas local stores to stock your stuff. Payment for canvasers, assuming they’re successful, would be a 5 year free supply of rub (within reason, like a bottle a month). If they’re unsuccessful, a 1 year supply.

It's what I get for only buying a shaker of each and not a full bag.
