If you have a Sport with an automatic, you have an 8” rear differential. 4.56 gears are available for the 8”.

Have any of you that always use ECT mode, tried both the
87 & the 91 maps and not felt much of a difference?

Ive been following this thread a while. A couple questions for you guys running it as im thinking of pre-ordering.

1)Does the ect button still add additional boost ontop of this tune flr when i tow?

2)How many did this and wished they regeared instead?

    3) i have the off road 4x4 so do i choose the bottom option in drop down to order that says “crawl” in description?

    Thanks

    1) In my opinion, yes the boost is definitely there, even more so than stock I would say. Some may want it on all the time, but the boost is so “good” that it’s almost too harsh for normal in-town driving. I love it if for the hills though.

    2) I wasn’t really considering re-gearing as I’m on stock wheels/suspension (as of now). While a regear would have its benefits for sure, this does more IMO. The stock fuel mapping was COMPLETLEY HORRENDOUS, so much so it almost makes it intolerable to drive stock. A regear wouldn’t do anything for you in that regard. Once he is able to mess with the torque learning maps and get it to where it won’t start reverting back slightly to bad shifting habits (the smoother/better power never leaves) then it will go from “hey it’s not annoying to drive anymore” to “I actually really enjoy how my truck drives”. It sounds like he is on the verge of getting that all squared away.

    3) yes, if you have crawl mode, select crawl mode (I was in the same boat)

Welcome to the club! You won’t regret it. I’ve made it a point to watch and see if anyone regrets buying the tune....and in 440+ pages so far (and in the other “auto transmission tune” thread also), I don’t think I’ve seen one person say they felt like their money was wasted.

While 1.02 is pretty dang good, I’m really looking forward to the next release after he tweaks on some things! And the fact that he went and bought a R&D Tacoma for himself, it’ll only make it that much better.

I just got a 17 OffRoad and although I am ok with the way it runs, I know it could be a lot better. With the new truck and Christmas coming soon, I'll have to save for springtime maybe to purchase the tune. Mine is an auto, but I first read about the tune in the standard thread. I'll read through the auto threads while I wait, but the reviews have easily convinced me that I want this.

Indeed, easily the best money I've spent on my truck - and with the new truck, give it a couple months and you'll likely start to see some of the weird "learning" these trucks do that frustrate folks especially with the auto shifting! Luckily, you bought at a time there was a solution!
